New predator rifle form Mossberg

I carry a Savage that weighs 11lbs without a scope and unloaded. My 8-32x56 Sightron doesn't help that weight.

I walk plenty and don't really mind it at all, but I do like the stability that weight helps to provide.

This MVP at 7.5lbs unloaded is fine on weight for me, I like a more tactical style stock, so it fits the bill there as well, pillar bedded to boot, for $650 MSRP, it sounds good. Sounds like under moa accuracy is in its reach, pay the $80-$100 to have a gunsmith skim bed and get things perfected and that should tighten up to a really nice shooter.

The option of 5-??? round magazines is great, and it isn't for shooting at 1 coyote, hasn't anyone else ever called in multiple dogs at once... the 10rounder may be a slick fit for those days when you see a pack of 5-10 bouncing your way.

As far as losing a mag goes, you can get AR mags for dirt cheap, by 2 or 3 or 5, eventually you'll figure out your gun enough to stop losing them, hopefully you have mastered the "safety" mechanism by then as well

I'd still like to see more definitive reviews on accuracy, 5 shot groups at 100-300 yards, from Match grade Gold Medal rounds, to the varmint destroyers it was designed for.

Carrying extra rounds in a pack is a good idea, with any gun, and for the untrained, with a scope on the rifle, its about the fastest way to "throw" 10 more rounds in a rifle.

Just wish somebody would come up with a 5 or 10 round magazine for a 300 Weatherby...

Always wondered if Accuracy International 338 mags could have the lips "bent" just a bit to accept those...and a Weatherby action would work with it.

Heres a pic of my Remmy 700 in .308 with the Badger O' set up, most have already seen my .223 with the AI/Seekins Precision set up I posted above...

Weight can be adjusted by what kind of fill you want in your stock. Maybe most folks didn't know that???

littletoes - The bolt is on the wrong side!!! I just thought I'd give you a warning before you tried to fire that 308!!

Like Duane said, we had Mossberg out to shoot/test these rifles for the first time and they shot very well. I thought the trigger was very clean and crisp, they were extremely accurate for an out of the box rifle and they accepted what ever AR magazine you wanted to put in them. Now off of a rest, a 30 rounder gets in the way in my opinion, but the 20 rounders were the favorite in the rat fields.

Given the fact that there were thousands of rats, and the person shooting had 20 rds a go, plus 3-4 spare 20 rd mags right there on the table, it made for a lot of fast accurate shooting.

I would say this is more for PD's. rats, rock chucks etc...but they work fine for coyotes too. The AR mag sticking down issue will be and issue with this gun or an AR, it's that simple.

I don't know what if any other calibers this gun is going to be chambered in, but it is brand new so we have to give it time to start walking before we ask it to run no? That's just my opinion.

Like with any gun, there were some things I would like different and some I really loved. I think i will do pretty well.

I shot a Mossberg 243 two years ago and in my opinion it was the biggest piece of junk I had ever shot. Don't think that I will be getting one of these things. It was a few years old then but it definitely cured me.

There are plenty of 5 round mags for a .223 AR. You can find them just about anywhere. You can also get 4 round mags for a .223 AR. You are only allowed to carry a rifle with a 5 round capacity in AZ, that means you need a 4 round mag to be legal. 4 in the mag + 1 in the chamber.
