New Predator University hunting rig coming along...

Tony, I was starting to think that you were gonna start a chop shop, now it will be wrap trap shop. Anyway it does look cool.

Thanks guys. I bought a 2 gun rack from Big Sky Racks to mount to the ceiling and my buddy Corey bought me a new center counsel for it. Still need install both of them. Soon as I can get some money saved up, the flatbed and bumper will be installed, then some predator hunter customizations will begin.

Appreciate it.

Slowly, but surely, the new hunting rig is coming together. I got the flatbed on it and painted up. Here are some pictures of it that I took today.

Thought I'd share.

Will it be ready to use a week from this Monday?
It would be something to be the first client to smack a coyote from your rig.

Possibly Greg. The diesel motor runs great one day...and cuts out the next. Driving me nuts to figure out what's wrong. Next morning, it runs just great again. It's cherry and hasn't had a dead coyote on it yet.

Bad injector?

Not sure. It's throwing a SES light. There is only one person in the entire town that has a computer to read a model that's older than 1996. I need to take it to him and get a reading on the codes. Then I'll hopefully know what I'm dealing with. I'm pretty handy, but I'm "diesel dumb".

My son wants to help me strip and repaint the grill, bumper and brushguard tomorrow. Sounds like a good father/son project, after he and I get back from scouting/calling.

Makes me feel at home!!

Good lookin' bed, too, from "top side" at least.

What's the "center" between stringers, 16"?

Too bad you couldn't/didn't camo it like the rest of the truck!

I only see one thing missing....nowhere do I see any TT or Pred. Univ. advertising!!

Oh, and another thing...instead of wasting time repainting the grill/bumper/brushguard...that truck is just begging for a pipe bumper/brushguard combo!!!

A welder, torch, 6'-7' of 3"-4" heavy-wall pipe, less than 20' of 1/4" X 2" flat iron & 2' X 4' of expanded metal mesh...you could make one in a day's time. I'm just sayin'...

I like the way you think!

I just camo'd it this morning. I used spraypaint on it. The black looks sharp, but I'm not going to a truck show...I'm going hunting. Hiding the rig is the utmost importance.

I have Upstream Images (long time sponsor of PM) designing me an entire new logo for Predator University. When they are done, it'll adorn the side of the vehicle.

While checking traps this morning, I decided to not mess with painting the bumper/brushguard and build a new one from scratch instead. I want a slide-in fur basket on the front, that'll double as a grill guard when not in use. Also want to be able to put a chair on the fur basket, while night calling. I already took the bumper and brushguard off and camo'd the grill.

See...I like the way you think!

Tony, back in the day I used to have one of those trucks and I was having the same problems you describe. It turned out to be the wiring harness had some chaffing. That was a common problem on Chevy diesels, so I would suggest going over the entire harness under the hood with a fine tooth comb. Good luck with the new rig.

Funny you should mention that. My wife helped me troubleshoot the engine today. I finally traced it to the plug going into the PCM. All I had to do was touch it and the truck would die and wouldn't start, until the key was out of the ignition and attempted again. After fiddling around with it for an hour or so, I bent the prongs on the PCM slightly and the female clips on the wire harness. Seems to be fine now. Also, there was a EGR valve or something like it that was loose. After troubleshooting it and finally tightening it down all the way, it idles and throttles a lot smoother. I'm sure both issues have to do with all the bumpy azz rock roads I hunt on.

Now, I need to just figure out why the brake lights won't work and I'm good to go. I'm sure its in the front end, possibly the wiring harness at the foot pedal.

Thanks for advice sir.

Tony
