Nightforce doesnt gather light?

K. well I guess it still doesn't make sense. If I can see it clearly in my scope I don't have any qualms about pulling the trigger.

I guess that mounting a scope lower on some guns would do that. I'd prefer to use a cheek piece of some sort.

What I said was that if I had to crank my scope up to 8-9X just to IDENTIFY my target, I probably would not take the shot.

How do you know what is behind/beyond your target when you can barely make it out?

i cant tell you guys how many pigs i have shot on 1/2 moon nights with my 3.5-15x56 nightforce. i was watching a coon under my feeder tonight at 75yds waiting on pigs that never showed.

No way was I implying that a Illuminated reticle makes you see better in darkness, you would have to be stupid to think that

I have a astigmatism and red dots look blurry to me, except for Accupoint or etched reticles. Standard duplex reticles are difficult for me to see in low light and/or brush with dark backgrounds.

Since I have eye problems, glass also makes a difference to me, along with the reticle thickness. Illuminated reticle makes a huge difference in the environments that I have mentioned which I may or may not need.

Trying to raise a family, and my funds are limited so It's cheaper to get opinions, field experiences, etc than to blow money on things that aren't usable. sometimes you just have to bit the big one and try it yourself.

I know many of us get agitated with others that have less experiences, knowledge, etc and feel that we have to beat our chest to get our point across.

The members here on Predator Masters have been very helpful to me on many levels and the only way I can repay my debt is to pass my knowledge on to the next person.

In short, thanks for always helping me and many others like me.

FYI

For the price of a Nightforce you can fix your eye problems. Then your choices wouldn't be so limited.

If you mean, go to the eye doctor and have it corrected. I did but my sight is the best it will get.

I do have a game plan, hold the light and let my 14 year old son take the shots

FYI,
it's not always that simple.

That stinks man. Sorry the bad luck.
The 14 year old will remember that for a lifetime.

I didn't think so, since you and I were the only ones that had mentioned "exit pupil" in the thread up to that point.

That one wins a patch!!!

I gotta plead ignorance on that one. I've never owned a FFP scope.
I'm seriously considering a PMII S&B, and I would like to know what to expect.

Sorry for the confusion there. I was gettin' on a roll & splashed that misinformation over from another thread here. No worries!

(FFP scope reticles "cover" the same amount of the target any ANY power
wink.gif
And that is due to the fact that both the reticle and the target are on the same focal plane )

Well, I don't know what is going on here...my nxs gathers so much light that I usually have some light left over...I saved it up for awhile but finally came to the conclusion that I could never use all this light that I had, even if I divied it up among my lesser light gathering scopes I still would have way too much. Please give me a few ideas on what to do with all this stuff...maybe you guys want some...what are the rules for shipping light?

I guess I was trying to keep both of the threads going at the same time too!

I figured if the image and the reticle were on the same focal plane, they would both change equally as the magnification changed.

I've been asking some really dumb questions lately, but I want to get things straight before I spend the big $$ on a FFP scope.
Thanks for the information!

Bushy, I'd like to buy 87.4 lumens of your extra un-used light, if it'll fit in a USPS Flat-Rate medium sized box!

Sorry I got all you folks flusterd with my brain cramp on the other post. I guess that is what happens when you are posting after 2 days of sleep depravation.

But hey we got some cats.

Good deal!
You better grab some of Bushy's lumens before they're all gone!!

I have a couple of Kahles that gather more light than I can utilize as well. I keep the extra under my bed to keep monsters away.
