BDC reticles for the most part are ballpark at best. They were designed for a specific projectile at a specific weight and a specific BC at a specific velocity. What are the odds of you hitting all of that criteria on the head? All that being said, the Nikon spot on program is about the best out there as far as BDC's go.

Chupa siad this well...
if your looking to shoot to 800 accurately getting you old bdc is not gonna cut it, best is to get an MOA reticle so you can run your own "custom" ballistics, or even a mil reticle with small increments, problem is your gonna pay for those great mil rets, and the finer MOA reticles are usually equipped in a thousand dollar + optics as well, I use the Vortex Razor with the ebr2b MRAD ret on my Norma and it works slick a long ways out... IMHO if your wanting to get to mid range, look at the vortex pst, I've ran one of those as well, and they are cheap for some of the options you can acquire, FFP, ZS, ill. ret. etc.
