OpticsPlanet deceitful business practices

I placed an order last week at opticsplanet. Apparently they did not have my product in stock yet they never bothered to tell me during checkout. My order confirmation email didn't mention an out of stock status. Today I go check and find it is on hold - waiting on stock. They never bothered to tell me.

Placed an order the same day from midwayusa - good old Larry had it at my front door in 2 days.
 
prices are good but lately they have been out of stock on almost everything i have ordered. Also, i have submittted several online reviews and have never received a 10 percent off coupon code.
 
I have ordered from them 3 times, all 3 times the item was back ordered (never told me) and I cancelled the order after 2 weeks. I'm not falling for it for a 4th time.
 
Thanks for the warnings. I must agree I would be quite frustrated with that type service.
I have used The Optic Zone on numerous occasions with no complaints... good folks.
 

I have ordered a few scopes through Optics Planet over the years, but the last time I had some problems.

Not long ago I ordered a scope from them and wasn't satisfied with it. The view through the scope just wasn't good, so I returned it. But, before I ordered the scope I talked to a rep at the company who said no problem returning it if I didn't like it, so I ordered it.

After returning it I got a note saying the scope had been mounted in rings and that my money was not refundable. I never mounted the scope, it was brand new.

After I raised a fuss and threatened to stop all business with them, they finally refunded my money.

Makes me leary of doing business with them again. Customer service is important just as much as a good price.

 
This seems to be more common now. Business is tough and they are making it even tougher for themselves.

Having same issues with suppressor distributer, currently looking for one that tells the truth.

I ordered some safariland stuff from them cause their prices were a few bucks cheaper than even midway. They didn't have every thing I wanted so I ordered a few things from Midway as well. Midway had my stuff to my house before Opticsplanet even shipped my stuff. Not as bad of an experience as some of you, but still makes you wonder why it took so long to fill the order, got to imagine Midway has a higher volume of orders.
 
I have nothing but good things to say about Optic Planet.

Spent 1000's and nothing negative to say thus far.

Midway seems over priced and it takes forever for them to get stuff back in stock.
 
I have used opticsplanet a few times with good results and free shipping. They sell a whole lot more than optics, more like amazon or something.
 
This has happened to me a couple of times with OP and they told me and I quote, "You need to call us before hand when placing an order because we are such a large company that we can not keep up with the websites current info." I told them to stuff it and that I would never be ordering from them again. I have had the same results if not worse with Sportsmanswarehouse.com so I avoid them both.
 
The way I usually do it is if they do not show an instock on their site I call them and ask if they are on hand.

If not and I do not want to have a backorder I look for someone that has what I want in stock.
 
I'm not sure about cameralandny.com (don't remember receiving any out of stock notices after the fact), but from past experience, swfa.com didn't have online inventory tracking. I've had the same online shopping experiences there as on opticsplanet.com.

I haven't had any problems with them. Midway never seems to have what I need in stock. It's hard dealing with companies miles away and across the Internet. I agree, though, I wish more places had more up-to-date stock numbers.
 
When I used Optics Planet a few years ago they did great.The last couple of times will be my last.After two weeks called to check and was told out of stock.I wonder how long they intended to keep my money with no product to send.
