Pictures of what I found in Hevi-Metal BBB load!

I wanted to know how much Hevi-Shot was in the Hevi-Metal 3" BBB 1-1/4 oz loads so I opened one up today.

I was surprised to find what looks to be seeds on top of the shot. It looks like they are using seeds for filler.

The Hevi-Shot pellet count was 41 pellets and they looked like they were about # 2s in size.

There was 54 steel BBB pellets in the shell.

So the total pellet count was 95 pellets.

lol! that whole hevi-shot thing is a scam imo.....are some of the pellets deformed right out the shell as well? I guess the seeds will be argued as "buffer"...seem like there are other material choices...

Actually the Hevi-Shot pellets looked better than I thought they would and they were very close to being the same size.

Some of the Hevi-Shot I have seen in the past was not consistent at all in size and it was ugly.

Weed seeds so round up can sell more product

Interesting to see the BBB`s though, I have some (2.75")that I have left over from duck hunting years ago.

Wonder if they really are seeds..what kind? apple? You`ll have to soak one and see if it sprouts

I would not be to happy to find that when I spent top dollar for an expensive line of shotgun shells.
I think I would be sending pictures to them asking questions like...what the heck is this junk?

It looks like junk.

Would be interesting to know what kind of seeds they are. If they are not something a land owner wants around, that could get you kicked off some good lease ground for sure.

Interesting, but who really cares what they use to make it work?? The question is do they work well?? Wouldn't it be hilarious if the company winning all the NWTF target shoots in the last several years is doing it with weed seeds, and irregularly-formed shot, while everyone is screaming for synthetic this, and consistent uniform that??? LOL!!!

So, how do they shoot Bob??? I imagine those steels aren't what you're looking for in coyote loads????

Environ-Metal is notorious for some of their inconsistent materials and loading procedures. And just when you think you have the perfect pattern... they change something like the wad which throws the whole barrel, choke, load, pattern thing out of whack and it is back to the pattern board.

Thanks for the link, Smokeless! So it is flax seed.

Mike B, I bought the Hevi-Metal BBB loads to try out on some Snows and Specks, I have not shot any of them yet. I don't plan on shooting any steel loads at coyotes.

The dark shot in the above picture is B Hevi-Shot I took out of a Hevi-Shot 3" B Goose load a few years ago. The sizes of shot in that one load were from size #4 to T shot. The copper colored shot is Remington Wingmaster HD BBs.

Hevi-Shot may be ugly but it does do a great job.

I guess they're really going for the "enviro" part of their name. A biodegradable buffer is a noble gesture. But, that nasty shot? Heck, Winchester XPert looks better!!

I'm wondering, say your using these loads for dove or other migratory game birds. After a couple shots wouldn't that technically be considered hunting over bait as you are spreading seeds on the ground in your hunting area?
