Predator Pursuit, CR-10 and a nylon brush.

Alright so I have a Predator Pursuit 20" stainless that I took out shooting a couple of days ago. I am having troubles when cleaning.

I follow the instructions on the CR-10 (wet patch wait, another wet patch, wait then a brush ten times until clean) that is supposed to remove copper fouling. Here is the thing though. The first couple of swabs are pretty dirty but not a lot of blue on it. Then they just keep coming out brown as long as i am using the nylon brush. If I do not use the brush the wet patches come out with nothing on them.

Question? Is the nylon brush the reason the patches are coming out dirty? Is it putting stuff in the barrel instead of taking it out and are the patches just getting that out? Is the stainless barrel good at not fouling a lot.

Left to right in order of cleaning.

I run a couple of patches with copper solvent through my predator pursuit. There is a little blue for a couple patches and then just clean. I have not used any brushes in the barrel at all. Most experience an easy to clean barrel with them. Just my experience ...

Maybe it just didn`t have much copper fouling. In my experience the patch will turn more blue after it sits for awhile.
After you wet the bore with CR10 then push a snug patch through with a jag, then shine a flashlight/look into the barrel (muzzle) if there is copper in there it should show.

It could just be the type of patch you are using. Try a different brand or type if you can. I've had the same happen to me and some patches absorb differently.

Take a cotton swap, like you clean your ears with, and insert into the crowned end of your barrel just a short ways, maybe a half inch. Put the crowned end of the barrel towards a bright light. If theres copper in the barrel, it will show up really good. An old smithy showed me this, works really good.
