Primos Tight Wad choke

well I say it was for my gun.. It was labeled for the mossberg 500, but that choke will fit the 535 as well. Mossberg sent me an email with the different chokes or guns that has the same threads

I run the tightwad .660 in my 870 and 1187, excellent results with 3 inch shells. Terrible with 3.5, but any of the chokes i'vd tried with the 3.5inch didnt pattern well.

I was patterning I believe @ 35yds and had 65 head neck hits using 2oz of 6 shoot federal copper plated. Wish I still had the pictures. It pretty much pummels them at that range. I dont and wont shoot much further, 40yds would be my tops, I like em close enough to feel the gobble /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif So with that I didnt try it any further distance.

Have you tried the factory full choke ? a bud of mine has an 835 that throws and excellent pattern with just the factory full.

Give er a whirl, the tight wad's arent that expensive compared to some of the other chokes out there. Thats what drawn me to it in the first place. If I could afford, I'd have a kicks gobblin thunder in the .660 or .665 but hey, not everyone is rich lol.

thanks for the replies, and yes the gobblin thunder and a few others are for the people who make the big bucks and dont pay child support /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I do know kicks makes a wonderful choke for many different shot guns ... I bought 4 chokes of the company so far ... for different shotguns ...Cost you a few bucks ... but worth it

Its no secret that I'm a fan of the Kick's chokes. That wasn't what the question was about, but if you can get your hands on one they are fantastic choke tubes and a great company to deal with.

Back on topic... regarding more inexpensive choke tubes, a friend has a Hastings on his Mossberg shotgun and swears by it. My dad has a Hastings also and it patterns pretty well. I don't think they cost much money either, but seem ok.

For a cheaper choke try a jellyhead or a carlson's ported. As much as kicks cost they should be rated for hevi-shot. Anyone who would buy a lead only choke for that kinda money must not be thinking clearly. You pay a premium price for a choke that is old fasion. A carlson will do anything a kicks will do for alot less money and they are rated for hevi shot. For the price of a kicks you can get a much better choke such as a pure gold or an indian creek.

after looking at the carlson chokes, the turkey choke does not have the dia I am looking for. Theirs is 680 for my particular gun, to where my current choke is 670

jellyhead, from my last research, does not sell theirs in 12ga for mossberg(12ga bore)

I have one and it's awesome.
Model: 6771 for Remington .660 constriction
Gun: Remington 870 Express Super Mag 26".
Ammo: Remington Premier HV Mag 3.5" #5shot (PHV1235M5)
Target: Thompson "Big Tom" target at 35 yds.
It blows it's head off, I mean it does a number. It a very tight pattern with shot so tight that it is blowing holes in the neck (from the pattern it will sever the head).
I was looking to make a turkey getter and I have found the right combo. I am ready for the spring season.
