RCBS 1010 broke

I bumped my scale and it fell off the back shelf of my bench. Snapped the beam in half where the pivot rod goes through. It's only about 8 months old and I would like to find a beam but seems impossible. Any idea's or is it trash. Rcbs can't help and neither can O'hous.

If RCBS can'/won't fix it or provide the part, you're likely hosed. Might be time to see if you can snipe one for a decent price on ebay.

Kinda my thoughts. Rcbs told me that since I accidentley broke it that its not covered. They carry no replacement parts and neither does o'hous. I'm not down and out as I just bought the chargemaster and I have a second small electronic hornady scale I can verify with but liked the 10-10 for that. Rcbs told me they could replace it if I sent the complete scale back plus $75. I may end up going that route but not til I look around.

May be the same with their label, dunno.

I wonder if their warranty would cover the scale for such a problem? i think it would. Might be worth calling & asking.

I admit to being a bit shocked by RCBS on this. I didn't have any idea that parts for thier products might not be available.

Ya neither did I. When I told him that I got die parts from them that broke because it was my fault he said that they carry & replace items such as those as a courtesy.

Stu, it could be one of those things that they buy already packaged and complete. If so, that's why there are no component parts. Not unusual when companies purchase complete assemblies instead of sub-assemblies.

Might be but this can't be the first 10-10 scale ever dropped. Seems they would have a parts bin to pull misc stuff from for this... Or do the right thing and swap it out. I can guarantee if it was a blue colored one Dillon would already have a replacement in the mail to him. His fault or not... I love my 10-10 scale but if I had to buy a new one right now it would probably be the blue one posted above for that reason alone.

I dont see where it is their responsibility at all to replace an item that a user broke by dropping. Seems to be a lot of people now days that think the company is responsible for that.

I get that impression also.

I do understand the frustration about not having parts available, though.

I don't expect RCBS to cover it. That said, I think if it was a Dillon manual scale, they would, with no concern over how it broke. So RCBS has some competition for the consumer to consider.

Had a scale tuned up by Scott Parker several years ago, don't know if he's still in business, but I know he worked on all kinds of scales, so he may have parts laying around. Plus you may benefit from having it tuned up after it being dropped.

I don't know if this contact info is current.

My point exactly, you read about and hear of them taking care of people that done stupid stuff all the time. What makes this so different.
