Its not fool proof but would add some pretty good protection from minor dings or scratches while in the field.
I pulled the blue out of two rifles with the "no mar" tape and pulled the color off my A2 stock on my AR with McNetts. Be careful using either.
My opinion, if the gun has been fired, mint is no longer an option. Get a takeoff stock and be mindful of your rifle and hunt it. People blue guns everyday, unless you put a serious gouge in it, that rifle can easily be restored after use if need be.
To me, it would be like buying a new high performance sports car and putting it the garage to look at.
