All good banter here. Truth be told 2muchgun and RePete have forgotten more about guns and hunting than I will probably ever know. I do enjoy watching values/prices of different makes and models as it is almost like watching the stock market. A $300 gun today can become an $800 tomorrow and vice versa. Sounds like you have a nice one with the potential for a nice resale nugget. Good luck with whatever path you choose.

I looked it up in a Blue Book that is a few years old and it was $715 NIB. That is real close to what I had in mind.

However, not all BB values coincide with real world values. There are guns like old Winchesters and Colts that sell for "over book" all the time.

I still say the actual "average" value on it is somewhere around $700 mint. But that does not mean you will not see one sell for more or less.

JMO....

Yea,,, it's all good.
Especially once every one else realizes I'm always right.

2MG,,,, you may be right about the 700.00 price point. My 500.00 estimate was based on the fact that it's wearing a Simmons.
(Kidding, settle down Simmons guys.)

PS,,,, don't sell that gun. Shoot it and enjoy.

Last Snowwis I used the reticle broke. Aetec on a bud's T/C Omega. First time to the range.

TJD--If you are worried about the stock, just drop it in a synthetic if you wish. I've seen several guys do that in order to keep the nice wood furniture looking pretty.

Myself, I would probably hunt it as is.......

Its not fool proof but would add some pretty good protection from minor dings or scratches while in the field.

I pulled the blue out of two rifles with the "no mar" tape and pulled the color off my A2 stock on my AR with McNetts. Be careful using either.

My opinion, if the gun has been fired, mint is no longer an option. Get a takeoff stock and be mindful of your rifle and hunt it. People blue guns everyday, unless you put a serious gouge in it, that rifle can easily be restored after use if need be.

To me, it would be like buying a new high performance sports car and putting it the garage to look at.

Great decision!

1st couple little bumps or scuffs will be the hardest, but eventually you'll realize they all tell a story.

... it adds character to the rifle.

Excellent choice! I've seen old BDLs and Sakos that were used by guides and hard-core hunters, and they had hardly a fleck of finish left... I thought they looked better like that than when they new. Nothin' IMHO looks better than good ol' honest wear...

personally, I'd like to have it. I've long wanted a .17 rem but never bought one. But I'd pay $500 or so for it. More than that I can't afford.

I am proud to have it. I talked the original purchaser and he said he originally bought it for pdogs. He then said he never went pdog hunting and put it up. Now trying to talk him out of his ruger 10-22 mag. He forgot he had it, until I found it in his gun vault while looking for some 17 rem ammo. Good to have some ole timers around that have great guns. I told him he needed to make room for his custom 280AI he is having built. He patted me on the back and smiled. Good times with a dear old friend.
