Remington 700 SPS...changing stock?

The SPS VS just has the heavy barrel compared to what you have.

I can understand about liking wood, I used to be the same way. The first synthetic stocked rifle I purchased just looked ugly to me. After awhile it started to grow on me a little. The second rifle a Winchester 70 Stealth was the one that brought me over to the dark side. That rifle just looks mean with that stock.

After using sythetic stocks for about a year I never want wood again.

I've also come to the conclusion the Xmark trigger is right on par with the SPS stock. Mine broke at 6 lb, but I managed to adjust it down to almost 4 lb. It was replaced with a Timney set at 2 lb.

What I did when I wanted to get rid of the shiney BDL stock on my 700 was I found a take off CDL stock with its satin finish. Good looking, and a 5 minute change. POI didn't change a bit. With my enhanced high polished blue barreled action I now have a very unique model 700 CBDL.

Sully, just so you know, I completely understand where you're coming from! I own a Ruger 77/22 in .22 Hornet that has a laminate stock and it is by far my most favorite rifle, in fact I hope they bury me with it in my hands, that's how much I like the thing! Everybody is entitled to their own opinion and I agree that there is something to be said about a nice laminate stock. If that's what you want, then I'd go for it! If you need to improve the accuracy down the road, you can always bed the thing. Good luck and let us know what you end up with!

Already have from Stocky's and got an email this evening thats its been shipped....:) Their Heritage model in "Tawny" ( brown / brown)

Stock came today from Stocky's. Its called their "Heritage Classic Sporter" and its the brown / brown laminate....called Tawney brown.

Any of you guys wanting to swap / change stocks by all means do so with a stock from Stocky's. They said it was "drop in" and it is. It took me less than 5 minutes from start to stop...and I like it....:)

In fact I like it so much...that Ive decided my next caliber with be another M700 ( not sure if I'll get the SPS or another version??) and re-stock it right from the get go.

Can you guys tell Im VERY pleased with my purchase....:)
