Remington 700's - Who has a good one?

Bought my 25-06 not 2 months ago and it will shoot MOA...best i have got is a 3/4" out of 3 shots all in a line and all touching

I have a brand new VSSF II in 22-250 that shoots excellent but I don't care for the shiny polished stainless action. My older Sendero has more of a matte stainless finish I prefer.

I have two of the Walmart specials (SPS??) one in a .243 and the other in 30.06. Both shoot sub MOA. The 06 does it w/ factory rounds. The 243 will shoot anything up to 90gr well, I can't get it to shoot 100gr. I tuned the triggers. I also have 2 SPS Varmints, one in .223 and the other in 22-250. The .223 will shoot 1/2MOA w/ handloads, I have yet to fire the 250, but expect the same. Again, trigger tune is all I've done. All of these rifles were mfg since 2003.

I have 2 700VSs one in 223 the other in 308 and both of them are very accurate, I also have a 2 VLSs one in 223 the other in 22-250 and both of them are winners as well.

Starting back in the early sixties........."ever" is a very long time.

Why is it that every time someone asks a question about a brand of rifle somebody comes on and praises Savage like they're the best thing since sliced bread. Give it a rest, nobody asked about a Skabage

I bought a Remington 700 SPS in .223 in January of 2007. I love this gun. Shoots under 1" at 100 yards with 55g PSP remington factory ammo. Havn't tried any other ammo because this one kills coyotes just fine!!!

Since the OP set a cut off date of 2003 I shouldn't include this one but. My 1997 SF Sendero in .300 Win mag was a shooter from the moment it left Ilion. Out of the box, mounted a decent scope on it, had some handloads from another .300 Win mag project gun, proceeded to 'blow up' a small 400 yd. gong. Let some friends try it out and they continued til we had to go and make repairs to the gong to keep shooting. I have never found a load for it that it did not shoot well.
My prairie doggin buddy bought an SPS in 22-250 two years ago. Package gun with a cheap scope mounted on it. The gun was sighted in...in five shots and we have never moved the scope or make adjustments in his gun. He kills more than his fair share of dogs every trip.

I'm sorry JB that I hurt your feelings. I relly didn't mean too. I am sure that your remmy shoots just fine.

You didn't hurt my feelings. It gets annoying listening to guys chirping about their savages when nobody asked about them. A guy can't post about any other brands without hearing it.
And yes, my remmy's shoot very well. Good enough to compete in factory varmint class. So do the Light Unlimited's I build and shoot. I guess I should sell all of my rigs and equipment and just buy a Savage though, right?

YES, and you will go from just competing in matches to winning some matches.

Got a VTR 700 in .204 about 3 weeks ago. Best group so far is .281 with 32 gr. v-max factory. Will not shoot 40 gr. The trigger is crisp, but heavy.

I bought a 270 WSM with 24" barrel in a SPS in 2004. It had the early version of the tupperware stock. I never fired a factory round thru it, I went straight to the load bench. Horizontal stringing was my issue, my typical group at 200yds would be 1" high and 3" wide. I removed the pressure point and rebedded it with little change. Just for fun I stuck it in my HS stock from my VSSF, and got the same results. Since it was a big game rifle, it was more than fine accuracy wise. After the season, I liked the velocites I was getting so well I sent it to pac-nor and put a 26" pipe on it. The stringing is a thing of the past.

Overall I was satisfied with the factory gun.

Gimme a break.

The last 2 Remmys I have bought and left "factory" shoot roughly 3/4 moa.........

Thanks for all of the responses! I have always been a Remington fan. I just needed a bit a reassurance prior to spending some money!

Thanks again!

I'd love to know how many Remmys and Savages you have owned in which this opinion is based upon.........
