Anyone have a Remington R-15? If so, wanted to know what you thought about it. I will be using this gun for 'yotes and bobcats.

thanks

I bought one about a week and a half ago. I really like the gun. I bore sighted the rifle and took it to the range and it grouped less than a 1" at 100yd with factory ammo. I ordered a drop in trigger group and when I was installing the new trigger I noticed a smudge in the camo finish. I was able to rub the camo off with my finger in three places. I took the rifle back to the dealer and it is going back to Remington. The dealer had not seen this problem before and assures me that remington will fix or replace. I don't regret buying the rifle but I am a little dissapointed. Can't wait to get it back. I am going to use the gun (.223) for dogs, bunnies and such.

I have one in 204 and love it. It does have a different trigger than the one that came in it. It shoots 32grain vmax well but dosn't like the 40's.

I love my R-15, best purchase I ever made, I have NO complaints, the problems other people have with a stiff trigger or paint coming off, I don't know about, in my opinion my rifle is flawless.

What trigger did you get and put in it? I think I read where the trigger was around 4.5 lbs.

I just picked mine up this evening - still waiting on my scope to ship, so haven't shot it yet. I got the Nikon Coyote Special 4.5 x 14 / 40mm scope on the way.

I have one it .223 and like it quite a bit. I put in a Timney trigger (I am a trigger freak, the factory one would please most folks) and added an extended latch on the charging handle. I also put a couple of coats of wax on the camo finish to protect it from wearing excessively, although I hadn't noticed any problems prior to waxing. Seemed like an easy step.

Just curious, of those who own an R-15, did you own any other AR type rifle prior to the R-15?

I only ask cuz everyone who see's me hunt with my AR hates it, then they shoot it. Followed by offering to buy it from me....

no issues at all with mine... shoots great and i got lucky and it has a good trigger right from the factory, and i hate a bad trigger. I am extremely happy with mine. Kills 'yotes and cats and jacks all the time. (1/2" MOA w/factory stuff)

No issues with mine either. No camo flaking or other problems and 5/8" moa at 100yds easily with my handloads.
My last pest from this week.

My only complaint is that little pencil thin barrel heats up pretty quick while shooting off the bench and the groups start to climb! My kids love shooting it!

I load a 50gr Vmax & a 55gr SP hornady bullet in front of 27gr W748 & SRP.
Standard CS R15, Shooters Ridge bipod, my own brass catcher, leupold high/see through rings, 1970s Tasco 3-9x40 scope. Nothing fancy.

Wait a minute.....something has to be wrong here. Just about all of you guys like your R-15. If you read some other posts on here, they will have you believe that all Remington products are junk, and should be scrapped. I don't own an R-15, but know several people who do, and they really like the rifle. I also know that for every one poster who comes on here and says they had a bad experience with Remington, a great many more will tell you that they are perfectly satisfied with their Remingtons. People just like me.

I to own the R-15 223 VTR and love it, its no better or worst then the rest of them they all about the same its just they have differnent names but most ever part will change out between them.

I have an R-15 223 w/22" barrel. I also have a D-Tech AR in 204. The D-Tech is more accurate than the Remmy but it cost almost twice as much at the R-15.
1 will shoot 1" or a little better at 100 yds the other will shoot less than 1/2" at 100 yards. Both are plenty accurate enough for me. I like the R-15 enough that I just ordered another one w/ 18" barrel.
I had some trouble with my original R-15 jamming when I first purchased it, but after some instruction from experienced AR owners here on the board,I got it working fine. Most of the problem was opperator error and not being broken in.
Good Luck
Ken

The AR plat form is a Mil spec design, other than total customs like the Billets.(even they use the same components)
That’s why the question about Remington actually Making (machining) them.

Rem R-15's are made by Bushmaster. I believe Remington owns Bushmaster.

I did a quick search, Remington and Bushmaster are owned by the same company, Cerberus. They also own DPMS. The press release I found is from Dec 2007, not sure of who owns what today. I think it is called Freedon Arms Inc.
