Well, I think I am giving up on Remington. I thought I would give the R15 a try based on Byron's glowing reviews and endorsement. Since I already have two AR's in .223, I wanted to try the .204 since I am fond of the cartridge. I was really excited about this gun.
I have had one on order since April since I work part time at SW and can buy one at an exceptional price on Remington's special purchase program for retail sales people. Problem is, everytime I call Remington to find out when I can expect my gun they always say, "2 or 3 months". Thats all well and good but now they are still saying 2 or 3 months. Its kinda disappointing that Remington published a release of January 08 and now we are looking at September or October with best case scenario. I was hoping for better out of Remington but I am not surprised. They just are not the same company they were a decade ago.
So, now I am looking at getting something else. I checked on Tikka since I read where a PM member found a Tikka Varmint in a .204 Ruger. Last I knew, Beretta has never imported that rifle into the USA. Talked to the Beretta rep yesterday and they still dont and have no plans to in the near future. Not sure what their marketing stratedgy is there since the .204 is an aweful popular varmint cartridge but maybe there is a method to their madness.
My next choice would be the CZ 527 Kevlar in the .204 Ruger. I know that will make IdBob smile. I would probably love the gun and it would probably be a darn sight more accurate that the R15, but, I sure would have liked a .204 in the AR platform. Oh well, I guess Mick Jagger said it best when he said, "You cant always get what you want".
