Remington sps tactical

I had one and it shot very well. I even killed a few coyotes in Kansas with it. Traded it for an AR but wish I would have kept it now.

I think that I am going to try to pick up a used sps tactical in 223. It seems like a good mix of hunting/plinking rifle. And if it doesn't shoot, I will just re barrel it. Hard part is finding a decently priced 223 in this configuration. Everyone must have the same idea. If tikka made their ctr 223 I would be all over that as well.

I was looking for a 223 but came across a 308 in a manners tf3a stock and Timney trigger and a manners mini chassis. Does anyone know if I change bolt head, barrel and magazine that's all I need to convert from 308-223?

Remingtons don't have changeable bolt heads like Savages, you'll have to get a different bolt with the smaller .223 bolt face. Obviously, as you already know, a different barrel. As for feeding, from one to the next, I don't imagine you could use the same setup from .308 to .223

that makes sense, thank you for the response. I will shoot it as a 308 and decide if another caliber like 22-250 is on the horizon.

I have one with a 1/12 twist barrel and it's very accurate with up to 60gr bullets...It's mounted in a HS Tactical stock...

200 yard group with 60 gr V-Max...Squares are 1"

I have one in a manners t3, and it shoots awesome bought it used on here to have rebarreled, but decided to shoot it before sending it off. Man am I glad I did. it is the most un picky gun I have ever owned normally shoot 77 gr smk's but is just as accurate with my 50 VX load for my ar.

Anyone use Accurate Mags in their AICS bottom metal? It shows a 10rd 223 mag with the same dimensions of the 308. In theory I could use those mags and a new bolt assembly and barrel to convert my 308 into a 223. Correct?

The .223 Accurate Mags work great in the different AI bottom metals.
The plastic AI .223 mags are junk.
I cant help on the bolt issue.

SPS tac 223 that i dropped in a McMillan Gamescout with the AICS BM and threaded for the YHM quick detach.

And it shoots good enough for me..

I'll get a picture up and I have 3 AI 223 mags and have had nothing but great luck with them several of the guys I shoot with have the AI 223 mags also and have never heard of an issue

Saw a few yesterday at Bud's Gun Shop for under $600. I already have the .308 version in a MDT Chassis and it is a nice gun. Would have bought the .223 version but I already have 2 full AR-15's so I am good on .223 right now.
