Ruger K77/17 VMBBZ in 17 HMR ?

I just ordered one been looking to get 17 HMR looked at the Remington 547 but thought to

I have been looking at getting 17 HMR. I looked at the Remington 547 & CZ 452 FS rifles. I ended up ordering the Ruger for two reason one the reviews in the VHA magazine showed the Ruger and CZ to offer the same level of accuracy. Second made in the USA I am concerned about the ruger trigger read it's not very good will proubly have to have lighten to 3 lbs. Does anybody have this rifle & what scope to put on it?

I have it, it is a shame because I would sell it to you. Not because it does not shoot but I am moving into other directions...

I have never been bothered by the trigger and I got the gun to practice long range shooting in my old place, in the pasture where relatively close neighbors would not appreciate the big bullets bouncing in their yard. I would shoot a 6 inch gong at 175-200 yards to simulate a 400 yard shot on a caribou.

The round itself is dead on to 175, I have not noticed the wind drift that others claim having shot it substantial cross winds.

The trigger is supposed to be a varmint trigger whatever that means, you can buy an upgrade kit if you need it. I think the scope depends on what you are planning to shoot with it. I have a 3x14 or so on this one and it is limited when shooting prairie dogs at 200 yards, Mostly cheap scope with modest clarity.

I have one of these rifles. Shoots pretty good, well put together, but the best thing about it is the rotary magazine. Head and shoulders above the other 17 magazines out there. I ended up putting a Jard trigger in mine and am happy with it's performance over the stock trigger. Mine wears a Nikon Monarch 2.5-10 which I really like on this rifle. Used to shoot a ton of jack rabbits out in the desert around Vegas with it.

That was Remingtons original offer in the whole recall fiasco. It was a slap in the face to everyone who bought the guns. Remington has since been offering free barrel swaps to .22 mag, or free swaps for a new Marlin bolt gun in .17HMR.

Much better, too bad they pissed off 1000s of people before coming to their senses. Public realtions nightmare.

Same here....I also have the VMBBZ in 17 HMR and it is very accurate with only a trigger upgrade by putting in a Volquartsen 2# sear. I have a Leupold VX-II 4-12x40mm scope on it. It's a really well built gun. I've never seen another 17 HMR that I'd trade it for.

I think guns are like everthing sometimes you get a diamond sometimes a lemon when I get to test it I'll let you know how it goes. I't might be a while I travel a lot with work.

I own 5 of the 77/22 rimfire magnums shooters all!!! I think SamSpade is one of those RFC CZ lovers. I think he works for CZ.

First day at the Range Ruger 77/17 VMBBZ 17 HMR Scope Burris FF II E1 3x9 40mm all original just lighten triger my self. Range results at 50 yds .58 inch average, at 100 yds 1.58 inch. In 10 to 20 winds. Just first trip but looks like its going to be a shooter

Hopefully you will try several other brands of ammo as they do not all shoot the same.

Some say they are all made by one maker. So I would venture to say if they are all made by the same maker then they all should shoot the same at least with the same bullet.

So why do the Fed. 17 HMR 17 gr. Hornady V-Max shoot a MUCH larger group then the Win. Supreme 17 HMR 17 Gr.Hornady V-Max in all three of my 17 HMR's.

My best 6 shots at 100yds. went into .860 using the 17gr. v-max. My Ruger HMR is a very accurate rifle it never lets me down! Remington Man wait till that wind lays a little and let that Ruger get broke in and there aint no telling how good shell shoot! Good luck with the HMR.

All HMR ammo is identical excluding the tip color which is licensed to each reseller. It's all made by CCI in Leweston ID. Exact same components, exact same specs.

So how do you explain this?

(So why do the Fed. 17 HMR 17 gr. Hornady V-Max shoot a MUCH larger group then the Win. Supreme 17 HMR 17 Gr.Hornady V-Max in all three of my 17 HMR's.) Copied and pasted from my post.

I shot all these brands, Hornady, CCI, Federal 17 Gr V-max and Winchester Supreme 17 Gr V-max to compare and find which shot best in my rifles.

Winchester Supreme 17 GR V-Max out shot the Federal 17 Gr V-Max and all others.

That is why I bought 3000 rounds of The Winchester Supreme 17 Gr V-Max ammo of the same lot# for Sage Rat killing.

So you say that they are all made by the same company. I can go along with that but not that they all use the Exact same components, exact same specs then why do not the Fed's and the Winchester's shoot the same with the same bullet (17 Gr V-Max)? Just does not compute in my pee brain.

Its all the same stuff loaded by CCI. Any change in accuracy is because of lott# change. Welcome to the wonderful world of rimfires!!!
