Scope mount suggestions???

Ok, just ordered my STR stock for my POF P415 and now need scope mounts. I think the optic I am putting on is going to be my 2.5x10 Nikon Monach with Mildot rectical. I belive its a 42mm. I purchased it a couple years ago. I would like to purchase the lowest scope mounts that I can find to keep front optic bell as flush as possible with the rail. I also have a 4.5x14 tacticle Leupold mark 111 with a 40mm tube. Both have 1" tubes. I just put a DNZ base on my save 220 and liked it so I am considering one of those in the tac mounts and maybe something like Nikons p 223 version(which looks a little cheezy to me) Any suggestions or other ideas on mounts?

I tried low mounts on a Ar and didn't like it. I ended up going back to a RRA one piece mount. You may like it though each to there own.

Mounting scopes on an AR is different than a bolt gun, you don't want it as low as possible due to having a different cheek weld. Any decent quality one-piece scope mount (SWFA SSALT, Burris PEPR, RRA Cantilever) is what you want. Just trying to save you time, money, and frustration because others have tried, but it doesn't work the same.

Like everyone else is saying, you really dont want the mount low. The difference in the stock positions makes a huge difference.

I have the dnz one piece picatinny mount on a ar15 and i like it a lot (the non-cantilever style). If you plan to shoot long range, you might consider a 20moa base. Other wise a regular base is fine. I also have a warne ramp mount.

All in all, the warne mount is a little stronger and it has the 45 degree rails that might be useful, depending on how big the eye box is. In my case, the eye box on my scope is way to big so i took them off.

One thing to keep in mind, when you mount the scope mount on your rail, you need to press it forward against the recoil lug. I recommend a healthy torque amount on the base as well. The dnz uses plastic washers on theirs, not enough torque and it will back off pretty easily.

My father in law has that scope on his ar15 and really likes it so far.

X2 Good advice.

You can see how I use a ARMS #63 mount with Burris Xtreme rings.
My scope is rock solid. My center lines are right at 3in.
This is my 450 Bushmaster upper on a Rock River lower.

I dont understand the hassle of adding a riser, then rings, when there are so many good mounts on the market. Not only that, the AR platform really needs a cantilever type mount for it to work right.

My current favorite AR mount is the Aero Precision Ultralight. For a QD mount, American Defense.

I was just about to put a PEPR on my rifle when a friend bought one. It was just fine but he already had an American Defense Product and said that while it worked OK, it just wasn't as positive for a quick detachable as the ADM mount. After a lot of research I settled on the ADM Recon X mount. I also bought the 30mm mount so if I changed out optics one day and went with a 30 mm tube I wouldn't have to invest in another mount. I then bought the 1" Delrin inserts. These allow upgrade to 30mm in the future and have the benefit of no ring marks on the 1" scope.

ADM Recon X

The only other one that I considered was a LaRue mount. Like most things in life, you get what you pay for.

I have a friend trying to talk me into a Wilson combat accu riser quick detach mount. They look really nice but at $150 it's not cheap. I was at gander today and saw some cheapy weaver tactile 2 piece mounts that looked cool as well.

Dont go cheap, you will regret it. I had a Burris PEPR, and hated it. Entirely too bulky and heavy. Check out the Aero Precision Ultralight..I just got mine in, and love it so far.

I really like my Nikon M-223 mount. It's sleek enough, not over built, but sturdy. I like that is has 3 cross bolts. And they're available with 20 MOA slope.

As has been stated, the ADM Recon X quick detach mount is very good, as well as the Larue LT 104.

For a non quick detach mount, there is non better than the JP enterprises mount.

You can use standard rings, but to get the correct cheek weld on an AR. You will need a riser or rings designed for an AR. Such as The Leupold extra high.

I 2nd this. I have an M223 mount with an M223 scope on it, very easy to mount up and looks good. Not bulky, or super tactical military grade, but plenty good for hunting. I slipped and fell straight on the AR strapped to my back in the ice a few months ago, didn't lose zero. Good mount.

I like the Nikon M-223 as well, good and solid, well manufactured.

No experience with these but hear good things about Burris, Rock River, and others too.

I've used the burris pepr mount and it works fine. Also have the vortex mount that I like. There are a whole lot of more expensive options out there you can go with if you'd like. I just don't see the use of the quick detach mounts. I'm not swapping them on and off. If I only had one scope maybe I would see it. I have one for my aimpoint amd rarely move it. Like most things in the ar world a tacticool name on the side costs more than the part in many instances. Sometimes it is warranted and some times not.

Yep, this! Solid and the right height for an AR.

I like the looks of the Burris pepr. I'm starting to narrow it down to either it or thwilson accuriser. Dose any one know if the Burris and perp logo is etched in to the mount or is it painted on? I'd like to paint over or remove it if possible.
