k22,
I'll bet that Gibbs was indeed a real groundhog slayer.
I like your rifles. That little model 7 looks really sweet. I have a stainless one in .243 with a 20" barrel. It shoots pretty darn good.
I'm considering putting a tactical base on it and using Warne Quick Detach rings on a couple of scopes to switch for different loads. Seems I'm always wanting to play with something new. I thought it would be good to have that little model 7 and a scope sighted for coyotes, then another scope and bullet for deer / antelope etc.
Here's another rifle, just for discussion. This one was built by the now defunct Arnold Arms Company that operated out of Washington state. This one is built on the Apolo action, has a Winchester-type safety, and believe it or not, a synthetic stock. The stock looks and feels like wood, but isn't.
With 85 gr. Ballistic Tips, it's running slightly over 3600 fps. I've also got some decent accuracy with 75 gr. HPs, and plan to work with them a bit more. As well, 110 gr. Accubonds are shooting under an inch, some around 1/2", so seems it's pretty versatile on bullets it likes.
.257 Arnold Magnum - which is a .264 Win Mag necked down to 25 caliber. I have since
added another scope to it, a Leupold 4.5x14 in Warne rings, so both scopes are now
interchangable for different loads. It has a Jewell trigger.
What would we do without toys!?
