Show us your custom knives?

I've learned so much from my post on "what kind of knife" that I would like to see what everyone has laying around the house as far as hunting knives are concerned.

I didn't realize there are so many knife makers or different kind of custom knives on the market. I've always bought a knife at the local hardware store and called it good. But, WOW, there are some nice knives out there.

So, with that being said, show me what you got. I'll start out with my measly few knives. Here they are:

Top down is a DH Russell DU Guide knife, next is a Gerber, Berretta, Uncle Henry (it's skinned hundreds of coyotes) and an Imperial DU knife.

That's about it. After taking stock of my knife collection, I do think it's time to get busy buying a few more knives!

I'll play, I won't bore you with factory knive's so here are some customs. Custom knives are an addiction as well, I have 8 more knives from Gene Ingram on order, delivery is strung out over the next year and half /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif

Here is a Gene Ingram "Slim" with Antiqued Linen micarta

This one is a factory made Berreta, Loveless design, not a bad little knife either.

Left to Right: Boker (German), Fairbane-Sykes (England), Medical Surgery knife, the three on the right were custom made by Bill Engle, a member of the National Knife Maker's Guild, and neighbor. The two larger ones I designed and he made, the one on the far right is one of three I had made as presentation gifts for a trip to Egypt several years ago that wasn't used..

So, Oldturtle, if you didn't go on the trip that you were going to give a knife away, do you still need to give it away? And if so, how about I be first in line? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Wow some really nice looking knives guys.

GC, every time you show a Dozier knife I drool. They all have classic functional beauty. I really hope to get one someday. I would thoroughly enjoy using one too. Thanks.

Thanks tripod3,
Dozier's are the best using knives I know of - period. And I've tried and used a bunch over the years. The Dozier's are a great family and super people to deal with. They are invested in every knife because their family name is at stake with every blade they produce.

MikeG, I took the trip, but the intended recipient was gone out of the country on business so I had to bring it home as they have to register weapons (including knives) just as we do firearms through a system like NICS..

As far as giving it away, I'm keeping it just as another reminder of a great experience.. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

DARN! I was hoping you thought so much of me, I would get a nice knife too! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I know, I'm shameless.

Well boys, these two threads have given me the knife bug so bad that I've bought 3 knives this weekend. When they get here I'll post a few pictures.

Oh, no one tell my Honey Bunny, she's in Oklahoma at my daughters wedding shower this weekend and will return tomorrow. I can't wait to surprise her with her new presents! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Greeaaat batch of knives!! I really like the look and feel of custom knives. I only have a couple customs but they are very special to me as they all were gifts. I hope to pick out one for myself someday. Mike I will be interested to see your new knives! I have posted these before but here they are again.
This one made by Chuck Anderson has 440C blade steel with somekind of stabilized burl handle wish I knew what kind..It has a thick spine and has an excellent edge would have no problem splitting pelvis or sternum with this one.

Very nice knives gentlemen!!! I really enjoy using custom knives. I had a line on an original Loveless here awhile back that was for sale locally, after the owner found out I was buying it and planned on using it, he refused to sell it to me. I kid you not!!! He had the nerve to tell me that he would rather sell it to someone who was more appreciative of what it was and wasn't going to use it....crazy. I told him how much more appreciative could a guy get, than using it for what it was made for. I have all but given up on owning a original Loveless.

Wonderful looking knives guys. I see some of you have spent more on knives than I've spent on some of my guns.

As soon as the knives get here I'll take a few pictures and post them.

While doing knife research, I've discovered the Russell knives are very expensive. Can anyone tell me why, and what are they used for? They all seem to be bowie knife type knives which wouldn't appear to be too handy skinning or gutting a critter. Is there special significance to the knife? Just curious.
