Looking for others thoughts or experence with the sightron SIh series scopes. i bought a 4 x 12 x 40 mounted it started to sight it in and after 9 shots it became so blurred i could no longer see the target. (its on its way back) anyone else have this happen.

Never had a problem with their scopes, well except one. It failed to adjust. Sent it in for warranty and they sent me a new, higher quality scope. Their customer service is first class. They will take care of you.

I have three and they are very good scopes.

I have a few, including an S1H...

Its an OK scope, as good as anything else for the price. You simply aren't going to get a decent piece of lass for that kind of money. As long as you are satisfied with that that money buys you, the Sightron is as good or better than its competition.

I was introduced to Sightron when one came on a .308 that I won at a DPMS 3-gun match....It is a SII 4-16x Mil Dot and I was/am still impressed with the quality and clarity...What little contact that I've had with their Customer Service has been excellent and very helpful...

Over the years, I acquired another Sightron that I believe might be a SI that is a 3-12x and while it's not quote as good as the 4-16x above, I still prefer it over some others...

My one bad one was a cheapy I bought at Academy. It had something internal fail. I returned it to Sightron. A few days later I got a call from a rep telling me the part that failed couldn't be replaced and that scope was discontinued. He ask me what I wanted to replace it with. Jokingly I said the best!! A couple of days later I got a new scope in the mail. It was the same magnification but a Big Sky. Worth about three times what I paid for the original scope. Not going to hear me bash them for sure.

I've read good things about Sightron for a number of years. I have Cabela's, Bass Pro, Gander Mountain and others close to me yet have never seen a Sightron in person. I'd like to check out the low light clarity of a Big Sky.

You should stick with the SII "Big Sky" models and above; great scopes, but overpriced (aren't they all?) Any style lower than that would be smoked by something like the Weaver Classic V, or even the newer Chinese Bushnell Legend in that price range.

I'm 65 & have had a countless amount of scopes. In the past 5 years all I've bought are the Sightron SSIII's made in Japan. Sightron's underneath the SSIII's are made in the Philippines. Between myself & my buddies we have bought 14 of these either 6x24x50 or my favorite the 8x32x56 LRMOA-H having up-down-across moa hash marks & a Christmas tree of moa windage dots. Several of us have Nightforce's but they have NOTHING on this scope except maybe heavier built for very rough use. List on the 8x32 is $1239 & I have them delivered to my door for $799. The 6x24's are $699. Myself, I'll never blow my money on the Nightforce again.

I'm complete opposite, I have two SIII 6-24x50 and I just got my first NF ATACR 5-25x56 and it blows my two SIII's away. The SIII's are not even close.

I'll probably get bashed for this, but I am no a fan of NightForce optics. I'm sure they have a place for some, just not for me. The one I had didn't stick around very long. Clarity was sub par for me and I don't need a rough service scope which I feel they were designed for. That which I'm sure they do very well. My Big Sky allows me to see bullet holes at 200 yards pretty easily and I prefer clarity over super rough service with my rifles. Granted, they don't have the WOW factor of a NF but I still prefer them. JMO for what its worth.

UPDATE
No problem with customer service they replaced it within two weeks , no problem , received it mounted it and in less than 25 shots same problem . called them and sent it back again. this time i was told they will upgrade it to a SII at no cost. still really frustrated.
