Smoke scent and coyote hunting

I would like some opinions on a question I have regarding cigarette smoking and coyotes. I smoke but not on stand, do you think that the coyotes would smell my human scent just as easily as the smoke scent? I've been told by several guys that the smoking scent is ok as they would smell me as well as the smoke scent. What do you think? I hunt in mostly timber areas.
 
Beretta, I come from the northeast, and have never had a problem either calling or trapping coyotes, and I'm a smoker. As long as you're playing the breeze right, it shouldn't be an issue. I never smoke when I'm actually calling, though it's not the smell, but more the extra movement that I'm concerned with.
 
As nasty as cigarette smoke smells (yes, I smoke), it's probably not nearly as offensive to a coyotes nose as a hunter encased in Scentlock and drenched in Scent Blocker.

I use cigarette smoke as a decoy.

If they see smoke they'll just think it's a Bar-B-Que, stop and wonder why the heck they weren't invited.

That's the point where you carefully lay your cigarette aside and take aim.
 
not hijack the thread, but what do yall think about a yote smellin dip? i dont normally dip on stand but sometimes i do and just spit on ground(im very careful in my movement) do yall think that smell would bother a yote?

Refer to my previous post and swap smoke for "DIP". You could also add pets, gas on shoes, food, perfume/cologne, deodarant, shampoo, etc. The list is endless.
 
So what do you do about busting turd in yout drawer's when your out on a stand? I get the farts so bad their isn't much time to clench your cheeks together.I was kinda thinking about adapting one of the isreali Gas mask filters
to one of those posterior pluging device's I use to see in the back of hustler magazine when I was a kid..Think I should apply for a patent? I mean they sell Cough suppressors.....Only makes sense to suppress the other end!
I [beeep] sure know yotes and proably everything else for miles around can smell me!
Maybe I could even be a sponser on predator masters!
 
Until you get that patent, I hope your hunting partner chooses the upwind position when out with you. LMAO. Would I be able to suggest the "Bark suppressor" is the name that fittingly would be appropriate for coyote hunters? Run with it, I say. (and if you get a bead on it, shoot it)
 
Thanks guys!! I appreciate the replies and I won't always be stressed out from smoking (which I enjoy) odors, I will just continue using the wind to my advantage.

I've never seen you take a cigarette out of your mouth for anything except food (and of course a beer). Even that is a hard decision. Ihave seen you use the smoke to check wind direction while on stand though.
