Here is some first video of the new IR Patrol we shot from the NRA show. The video was taken with our new mini DVR, custom Made in the USA rifle/helmet pouch, and Made in the USA Mil-Spec cables that our engineers fabricated to do a few cool things we'll talk about in a few weeks once we officially release the whole setup and talk about in depth.

As you review the video you will see several menu functions and the edge detect mode at the end of the vid. Much more to come and hope you like the video. (Note, date/stamp etc was not setup)

I feel it's a strong contender, BUT the LS's are NO slouch for their uses and they both have their strong uses.

The extra versatility of the IR Patrol is a great aspect that includes helmet mounting for hands free scanning along with hands free recording with our new DVR kit being released. I really like the edge detect mode of the Patrol we show at the end of the vid as well.

Helmet mounted with a usb battery pack is going to make me question navigating with a pvs14, especially on familiar turf.

You can walk on familiar roads and trails without obstacles using helmet mounted thermal at night without too much difficulty, but you can forgot going off road or anywhere you are not familiar with, it is way too dangerous.

Would not suggest trying to drive an ATV or UTV using them either, however it is excellent when your passenger is using them for covering large areas and picking up heat signatures.

The size and weight of the instrument is not a problem, it is lack of 3D situational awareness, narrower FOV, and a more 2D like experience.

For real mobility and situational awareness of your surroundings, nothing beats a GEN III PVS-14.

Must agree with Skypup here. Head mounting for true navigating (walking around), uneven terrain, etc., the PVS-14 will remain the most useful and safe tool.

I have a pretty good idea of what to expect since I have been using a IR Defense 20mm Mark II scope.

I look forward to your review Gman when you get your unit. I have been told the 2 units the guys have at our booth at the NRA show are production versions. We will know more on delivery schedules once the show is over as I know the staff is meeting with IR Defense.

Hi Mr. Poppadopalis, the M250 does not come with a reticle or clip-on mode.

After getting some time in the field with a few thermal monoculars I would have to say the helmet mounted system would be huge for what we are doing... The IR Patrol looks like its a top notch piece, I'll have to start saving.

Skinney
Your dead on target,I would have had a bunch more multiples this season on the ground if I did not have to grab the mono and search for the next dog after dumping the first, then get back on the weapon for the next shot...,as you know yotes, can get out of Dogde quick when the shootin starts!!LOL!!
I to am looking ata helmet mounted IR product, the one thing I dont like is no INSTALERT like the FLIR product...

Agreed and also the ability with our new helmet mounted DVR and cables, the ability to record what you're looking at is a nice aspect as well.
