I have been told by Sky Pup, whose experience I respect, and by others, that simultaneously using a PVS 14 on one side and a thermal on the other just doesn't work. Columnation issues are only one obstacle, apparently the amount of input leads to brain overload.
I hope that primarily using the Patrol when conditions are favorable will work, but I think having both and switching back and forth as conditions and purpose change is the way it will work best.
Good to hear that the Patrol and PVS 14 combo will work on the Mod Armory dual mount. With a pair of PVS 14's the Mod Armory mount allows swinging one or the other PVS to the side and up, out of line of sight. Their video in the link I provided earlier gives a good look at the flexiblitymofmthe mounting system.
Also, if you want to swing both PVS and Patrol out of the way to use a weapon mounted sight you can do that too.
