Stiller scope mounts??

I used a Stiller Tac30 on a 221 Fireball I had built.

The action came with a Picatinny rail. Not sure what brand of rings I used.

Okie doke! I went to their website and waded thru a bunch of online paper work and found what I needed. Wasnt what I wanted to read...lol....but at least I know how. Thanks

Yeah, used a predator action with one of they're 20moa bases, nightforce rings that are a little higher than lowest leupold mk4 rings. 50mm objective with cap, plenty of clearance with the higher nightforce rings, was not enough for the obj cap with the leupold mk4 rings.

Yepper. Me personally I dont care for one of those rails...always did prefer 2 piece bases so I jusy had to find a "work around" is all

Yes..thats it exactly. I need to buy TWO front bases ( which means the rear bases will go into the drawer..???) and go from there. I can get Weaver 2 piece bases ( need 2 sets of course) for $3.95 per set!! Then use the proper height Leopold rings ( Im thinking QD rings..???)

Let me get this straight... your build is based off a Stiller action and throwing on a $4 base for your optics?

Ya know I thought about a setup like that and went and looked at EQW's site.. They say for yardages from 600 and down...ya dont need them. ( That additional MOA adjustment)

Way I see it if im going to buy one midas well buy the 20, never know when I may want to strech its legs.

Have you looked at the talley light weight one piece mounts?

Yepper and other than HIGH cost..they dont cure my situation of needing 2 front mounts.

If "Weaver" style rings and mounts are so junky..as has been alluded to here...why has Weaver sold more mounts and rings in the years they have been in business than so many other companys. Im not swayed in the slightest by the latest and greatest. I want stuff that will work.

Maybe the Weaver mounts work for some, all know is that I bought some of the for my Stevens and I didn't like them. They come with cheap slot screws and the fit to the action was poor, they would have needed bedded to the action to be used. I think Weaver has sold so many because most hunters buy cheap optics and mounts, most everyone I know think $100 for optics and mounts is crazy and then they don't understand why the scope won't hold a zero.

Its not my build and money being spent, so its none of my buisness what parts are being used. Its just hard for me to understand using a custom action/barrel then using the cheapest mounts that can be bought. Good luck with your build.

Rejoice, Rejoice!

Talley makes a 2 piece mount to fit the Stiller Predator actions. Oh Happy Days!

By the looks of it a mount set for a savage accutrigger short action will work also, should open up plenty of options for you also.

I dont have a Savage that they call out in their catalog ( Talley) but it APPEARS the way they are listed the Savage AND the stiller BOTH have round top actions ( The website is pretty poor in the description dept...) If thats true..?? Then Im home free because I could buy a set of "X" brand mounts for a Savage and they would bolt right on!!....

I just got off the phone with Talley. YES a mount that will fit a Savage ( the models they specify) WILL fit a Stiller action and they have their "lightweight" setup which is the mount and rings combined sort of deal that fit the Stiller.

Looks like Talley is the way to roll!!!

Sully, your in luck. After a week vacation I'm back!

Yes Talley mounts for a savage (round back) will work.

Or the two front base lupy's as mentioned.

Or for $35 more from Stiller you can get a 0 MOA (flat) base. Then through $65 more on it & get a most excellent set of TPS picatinny rings (I also have seekins, badger, MKIV, & for the price I like TPS best). You'll be grades ahead.

When I got my first stiller I was not interested in the picatinny rail either but thought what the heck (price was going to be similar regardless). Went picatinny rings & base verses the tried & true 2 peice Leupold rings/base I had always used. Well, now years later, about all my serious stuff has picatiny ring/basse. Best out there, you can't beat it off with a hammer!

Give them a try. It will only cost a few more $$$ than a different aproach. It will not disappoint!

If you still don't want to give it a try, I've got MANY sets of used Lupy rings & bases. I've even got a set of lupy style (actually burris brand) rings & bases for M12 savage (also stiller pred) you can have cheap!

BTW,

How in the world did you get talked into buying a stiller???

Nothing at all wrong with them, GREAT action. Just wondering...???

If you aint careful your going to have one of a rifle
