tasco scope?

I have one tasco scope its only a 3x9x40 but it worked well for me held a good zero and was reasonably clear. That being said they do get a little fuzzy on higher powers or the one i have does. but for the price there not to bad. the tasco i have is also older I dont know what the new scopes are like. Also, the tube behind it i think is a sunshade, I Think.

The tube on top you are lookin at is a sun shield to help with scope glare on sunny days.As far as I'm concerned Tasco scopes are a pretty decent scope for the money.I have had several Leupolds,American made 5star Redfields,Burris,Weaver,Bushnell Elites, and others. You won't be seeing any Tasco's winning any benchrest events, but as far as a hunting scope I think they're underrated. The last Leupold I bought I could have bought that Tasco and a pretty nice rig to go under it!Sometimes people are just paying for the name.Sometimes I'm one of those people!

Not clear, not bright, not exceptional, but I've had one world class and it was sure tough as a boot, and held zero.

That being said, I'd go Nikon Prostaff myself, for a quality budget scope.

Buddy, you need to get your eyes checked. Trashco aren't even on par with Weaver, Burris, Bushnell elites and Leupolds.

Save your money and use it towards another scope. Even a Nikon Prostaff would be a HUGE upgrade to the Trashco.

Super I think he was just identifying some of the scopes he had to illustrate to what he was familiar with many different tier of scope quality not saying they were equal.

I got Tasco World Class and it had performed to an acceptable level on par with it price. I do beleive you can do better for a few more dollars. Bushnell offer a decent bargain line.

I have a Tasco or 2 around. I don't think I ever bought one, they just came on a few guns. I would try to move up the ladder some, even in the used dept. If that is what your budget allows though, buy one & go hunting.

SuperSeal110 I think you are the one that needs to get their eyes checked! You were obviously reading something that just wasn't there. In no way did I ever say they were 'even on par' with the other scopes I've mentioned. All I was saying was I thought they were a pretty decent scope for the money, thats all!Do you know what kind of budget this guy has to live on?I don't.With your logic, why should he even waste his money on a cheap Nikon Prostaff?Shouldn't he save his money until he can afford a Nightforce NXS,Schmidt&Bender,Swarovski,Zeiss,or Kahles?I believe I just said I think they were a pretty good scope "for the money".I think it's YOU that needs to get an appointment with your local optician!

I have two. Not the best scope around but they work. Both are over 20 years old. Hold zero just fine. Best group I've ever shot was with one of these, .1595". At the same time if I could afford a better scope I would probably have one on that rifle.

I have had several Tascos, even had one on a 300 win mag. held zero good never had a problem with them. I'd buy one if that's all I could afford without a second thought. But if I could afford a better scope like Nikon or even Leopuld I would get that first.
I have learned over the years you buy what you can afford. and if you can afford a better quality product buy it first so you don't have the regrets later.

Hey there superseal110 I just happened to do a quick check on what kind of glass the benchrest shooters have been winning with and it seems to me Nightforce looks like they are in the winner circle most of the time.Whats strange is I never saw not even"one"Nikon Prostaff even listed. Why would you back a cheap substandard scope like that?????I thought you were just tryin to look out for the mans best interest. For some reason I don't believe you have a Nightforce on all your rigs.If you do,please send pics because if you can afford a Nightforce or any of the high end German glass, you surely have some pretty nice rigs under them.I'll just sit back and wait for your high dollar rigs pics. After your reply you obviously are a lot better off money wise than some off us good old poor boys.I'll be waiting for your pics and I'll have a drooling cup handy,to keep the spit off the keyboard.

By the way,Have you got a eye exam set up yet. When a person starts seeing things that aren't there, you probably shouldn't be driving. If your eye doctor says there isn't anything wrong with your vision, you should set up an appointment with your local shrink.About twenty to twenty five years ago when I was just a kid,I took some acid at a party one night and started seeing some things that weren't there. You haven't been dropping acid lately have you?If you have you should find your local 12 step meeting and could probably get some support there.Just a suggestion. The toughest thing about it is admitting you have a problem.I'm pulling for your health,Dave

Here you go old man. Nope, I don't own any NF, though, this spring I'll have some under my belt. I own mostly Leupold.

I've owned Zeiss, Bushnell elite 4200's, Burris, Nikon's, Tasco's when I was 10yrs old and soon realized there is better choices for the money... Swarovski, well just the laser range finder which I still have.

If I had a choice between a Nikon Prostaff and a Tasco World class, I'd pick the Nikon in a heart beat. I didn't say they were in BR shooting. Get your old eyes checked.

Did You work for the Obama camp?Because you sure can take a simple statement out of context, and put your own personal spin on it and get completely off the original point.I also noticed you called me 'old' twice.I think Obama made the same remarks about McCain.Go back through and read the posts from ALL the other members.I think they were trying to help this guy out with their suggestions.Like I said earlier,I don't know what kind of budget this man has to live on.Do you think if he can't afford a high end scope he shouldn't even be allowed to hunt until he can afford one?Yes you do have some pretty nice guns there, but I'm sure they are other people's collections out there that would make your collection seem somewhat laughable. If you would, just go back and read Tarry's remarks,I think he realizes what I was trying to say.I think you need to go to the Timeout corner and sit until you cool your jets, youngster!

Furhunter, very nice. Love the wood on the Cooper's, drool.

bgtme, let's see your assorted Tasco's. You're surly a waste of my time.

No, I don't know the guys budget. Reason why I suggested the Nikon Pro staff @ $129 for a 2-7 VS the tasco @ $90. Just was a suggestion. IF he don't like it, that's his choice. I don't care, I don't have to look into it.

Nope, I don't work for Obama camp.

Yes, I called you "old" twice.

Of course there is people out there that makes my rifle collection look like crap, but then again, I'm still a Youngster. Have plenty more years to come, hopefully, to Upgrade which I'll be doing this spring. Leupolds will be getting SOLD and NF's will be bought. Waiting for the higher power FFP NF to come out.

Boy....the guy comes here looking for sound advice, and then has to listen to all this bantering back and forth. I'm sure that he learned a lot about scopes during this exchange.(not to mention his opinion of PM) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

What's next......the "measuring contest"? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

FALCONMAN: I am a big Nikon fan, but I also have 1 Tasco. It is a very old straight 4X scope that has ridden my Winny rimfire for years. It's very adequate for the use it sees. Never failed to hold zero, and it's plenty clear for 100 yard and under use. Wish I could be of more help. You might try to find that scope listed on several websites that allow "reviews" to be written, and read those. That might give you more info to make your decision.
