tasco scope?

WOW for the last time the falconman asked about tascos. if falcon man wanted to know about nightforce and others he would have asked. I am sure he didnt want to compare a $100.00 dollar scope to a $1200 dollar scope. as far as your sweet collection, ever hear the saying never trust a man with only one gun, as he surely knows how to shoot it.
Got to love the forum where someone asks a simple ? and others get in a pissing match.
Falconman good luck with your scope purchase and happy shooting

I have three Tasco's. One is a very good scope, not the best but the best I could afford at the time. The other two are nothing but junk, not even suitable for a rimfire. I do have one Nikon and I think I'm gonna put them on all my rifles. If your'e on a budget Mid-South has re-furbished Nikons for less than $100.00. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

SuperSeal I don't know why my original post set you off.It seems you were the only one that took it wrong. And it looked like Tarry thought you were taking what I said out of context too_Other people made posts on owning Tasco's and said they had pretty good luck with them. Why didn't you you jump on them about their eye sight,or do you think they were all lying about their experience with them? I worked with a guy that had to send three, yes three, Nikons back in a row before he got a good one.Do I think then Nikon's are junk? Not at all,I think he just was having some extreme bad luck.Nikon stood behind there product all the way and quickly replaced them.Every one has there own opinion, all I said was I thought they were a decent scope for the money.I don't know how your mind came up with the idea I was comparing them to the other scopes I have owned.I also don't understand your last comment about "lets see your assorted Tasco's.?????What the heck does that mean???I do in fact own 3 or 4 probably.I don't have any mounted on any of my varmint rifles right now.But if I get in a bind and need another scope quick,I wouldn't hesitate to put one on.I'll just about bet when you were a kid you were one of those"my cookie is bigger than your cookie"type kids.I think you were probably spoiled rotten when you were a kid and still feel somewhat insecure about yourself.

Never really been a Tasco fan myself. If you are on a budget, you might look into Bushnell's Trophy line. I have an 6-18 that came on one of my varmint rigs and it's still there. It's not the same as my VXII's, but for the price it's good.

SS110, I see you have VXII's and VXIII's. Is the price difference between the two worth it?

I've had a few Tasco's. If thats what you can afford, put it on and go. I've never had any trouble. Missed a coyote or two at night because its not as clear as some, but I've also shot some of my best group from behind a Tasco. I've heard a few guys braggin the Nikons......I'll never own another. I'll run a Tasco first. I've been putting Simmons on my last few rifles and am really happy with those. Not a single issue. Clear, accurate, holds zero, doesn't break the bank.

Good Luck.

Falcoman,I just got done digging around in my pile of stuff a man seems to accumulate after years of huntin and happened to find a 4x16x40 Tasco. It has an AO but it doesn't have the lighted ret. like the one you were lookin at.It looks like brand new,and doesn't even have any witness ring marks on the scope. It is clear all the way out to the edges.I'm sure it will make you a dandy scope.I had bought a Winchester 22-250 with a BOSS off gunbroker and it just happened to have this scope on it.I took the scope off and put a 6x Burris on it.Like I said I never shot it because the Burris was going on it anyway. It looks new ,not even any wear marks from sliding in and out of the case.I will send it to you for free if you'll pay the shipping. And if it does prove to be defective I will even pay for the shipping back.I know this post kinda went to sh**city on you so I will do that for you if you want.Just send me a pm with your address and I will get it in the mail.

As far as you go superseal you can pm me and we can arrange what we like to call around here as a "Wayne County Gravel Bath"!

sandhillshunter, you can find some dang good deals on Leupolds on the net if you look for used ones. I do prefer the VXIII/VariXIII to the VXII/VariXII. Only thing I hate about the VXII/VariXII is the power ring seems to be always tight. You could send them in and Leupold will adjust the tension on them and they'll be easier to adjust the power on them.

I'm not a crazy fan of Nikon, though I still own (2) Nikon ProStaff 2-7 for my g/f guns. One for a .22lr and one for a slug gun. I had horrible experience with Nikon's CS. Took 11 months to get a replacement 4-16 Nikon Tactical. It was when they were changing from Nikon Tactical to Monarch X.

bgtme, I wish I was spoiled when I was a kid. We were poor as can be. My mother did everything she could do to raise my brother and I. We didn't have the best clothes, mostly all hand downs...ect/goodwill stuff.

Wayne County Gravel Bath", Sounds pretty kinky. I'll have to PM ya about it. I'll bring the sponge/bubbles.

Superseal, let me get this straight. In your last post you said"I'm not a crazy fan of Nikon",but isn't that the same brand you were recomending at the start of this post????????Did I read correctly that you stated"took 11 months to get a replacement"I don't know that I could recomend a company that treated me like that. That seems kinda odd to me.Are you sure you weren't running the obama camp.Sounds to me like a lot of his double talkin to me.You know,I said this, but, I meant that.Thats exactly the kind of talk that got your friend elected.Oh well,I can still sleep with a clean conscious.I guess the only sad thing is you probably can too.

Yep, I did recommend a Nikon. Better then Tasco, IMO. [beeep] they have warranty, don't they? What does the Tasco's have? 1yr limited life time? Plz, fill me in.

I recommend a scope in his price range.

Once again, I don't support Obama.

Falconman,my offer still stands. If you are wanting a 4x16 Tasco it's just like the one you were looking at but it doesn't have the ill.ret.just send me your address and I'll get it in the mail for ya.And as far as you go supersquealer,I now fully understand what the ole saying is about, when they say arguing with a pig gets you nowhere. You just keep collecting pretty, shiny, expensive things, that somehow makes you feel like a real hunter, and better than everyone else, and hoping all the time you won't be exposed for the phony little jerk you are.Who knows,if you keep at it you might get lucky enough to get another picture of a dead crow you can post, and impress your friends with! With that, I'm through with you.

You guys are blowing this out of propotion....SS110 is a guy who'd give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. If you needed a scope he'd lend you one. If you needed a rifle, yep you guessed it, he'd lend you one of those too. The guy works hard for what he has.....he spends his pennies on glass/rifles when all his buddies are setting at the bar. I'd guess you guys might get along just fine in person. I've got buddies who have 45,000$ trucks who think that any scope that cost more than a c note is a waste of money.....it's all in your priorities. Me, I can get along with a paid for beat up truck and spend my truck payments on rifles. What I think he's getting at is that some of us are too poor to buy cheap [beeep]. By the time you buy one and then replace it when it breaks your farther behind then just getting something better in the beginning. Oh well, I'm done with this...I'm not getting in the middle LOL.

PS...Even the most beat up leupold you can find on ebay still has a lifetime warranty...

WOW, i just read through this whole thread. very entertaining! bgtme...chill man, its the freaking internet! and from my observations, it seems like you are the one trying to continue the argument. but vert generous of you to give scopes away, if the OP does not want it you can send it my way /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif

SO...back on topic, ive owned a couple tascos on some .22's that have held up well. id suggest a bushnell banner for around the same price range, they seem to be a little better quality IMO, and if you can afford it, nikon makes a very nice scope for the money. i have a nikon buckmaster 4.5-14x40 on my remmy 700 .223 and i am in love with it.

brdeano,I think his last reply speaks volume's about this guy character,a smiley face with his tongue sticking out?Wow how clever. What a brainstormer he is!You can blow him all the kisses you want at him but I think he really has problems coping with everyday life.I don't know how the guy really gets buy in life? brdeano ,would you like to retract your last statement you made about him?Or is this normal behavior with you guys from Mich?I understand what you are saying about buying cheaper items that tear up on you,and them having to replace them later. My point is this, sometimes you got to go with what you can afford to get you going.I would have missed out on 1000's of rounds shooting while waiting until I could have afforded the best.He even contradicts himself in his own statements. He said he was going to sell his leupolds for Nightforce scopes.I think you become a better hunter by hunting, not just buying high dollar stuff.I will guaranty you any real hunter will agree with me. I think he'd probably be better suited on Benchrestcentral, than Predator Masters, because I can tell that boy ain't got a bit of hunt in him.He reminds me of all the big city boys who come down here every deer season with the fanciest trucks and guns you ever seen. But what they know about huntin, you could put in a thimble. They sit at home in the big cities watchin the Outdoor Channel and they think that makes them pro's.They don't know North from South but they can tell you about how much money they got in their guns and 4x4s that has chromed 20" rims and some big mud grips, but there rigs ain't even seen so much as a gravel road. Not everyone can afford what other people can, thats life. But when you get to runnin your yankee piehole with terms like Trashco, you are going to be stepping on some peoples toes because thats all they can afford or that it's just good enough for them.So if he really wants to see how he stacks up against a true predator hunter,he can just come on down and I'll turn the coyote dogs out for him and we'll just see if he can out shoot some of these ole boys down here that are still shooting $150 dollar 788's and your standard 3x9 tasco that probably hasn't had the power ring turned since they bought it..But I'll warn you before you get down here, you just as well leave your sandbags at home.I don't think you will be quite the predatormaster you think you are when you got to get your shot off at a coyote running full tilt with dogs on its tail, before it hits the brush!Like I said,I ain't against high dollar guns because I'm a Sako collector junkie myself.Well actually I got everything from a 6ppc down to a 17fireball.I'm not kidding about the invite down,I'll take you huntin, but we will see how well you do against some of the junk rifles and optics and heaven forbid, factory ammo, some of these guys shoot.I hope you can figure out the proper lead on a full bore coyote, cause if you shoot a dog you might just be left in a fencerow somewhere.Just a reminder, these coyotes will be a moving target. You showed us all with your pics that you can shoot a crow out of a tree and a vicious little pd,but shooting actual predators might throw a kink in your game.Oh,and by the way you might want to bring yourself a cryin towel for your trip back up north.

psdanooo,I was at work one day when a buddy of mine brought in a nikon buckmaster.Hadn't even been on a gun yet.First one I had ever looked through.I asked him how much it cost and it blew me away. One of the sharpest scopes I had ever looked through in that price range. That is the good side of the story. The bad side was he went through three before he got one that would hold zero.He didn't have any problem with them getting replacements to him though.Maybe if superseal had a little better attitude nikon might not have had him wait 11 months, before replacing his.Just a thought.Being you have a proven one would you be interested in a trade?I got a Leupold VX L 4.5x14x50 with a varmint hunter ret in it new in the box,it's got the scope cover lens cleaning rag,and what looks like a little dvd in the package. How about a trade.Look them up,I think I'll have to drag a little boot though. And yes,If falconman doesn't want that tasco i'll throw it in too.

in supers name i got a tasco i will give the guy....super is a [beeep] of a nice guy....what he was tring to get across is there are better than tasco for close to the same $$$$..bgtme super wont recommend JUNK no matter what the budget...you like stirring the pot dont ya

But didn't he reply to them as Trashco's and then for some reason question my eye sight. What was his reasoning there? And what was with the old @ss comment about? How does my age affect a scopes preformance? At least answer me that.I don't consider myself as old.I'm 43yrs old 6'6 and weigh around 245 lbs.I don't believe my age should have anything to do with the original question. So just tell me how I come off as the one stirring the pot? There are all kinds of opinions out there.Wasn't there several other members said they had held together pretty well for them and held their zero.I even think one person in particular said he had shot his best group to date with one?Why didn't he openly come out and question all their eye sight.Or just come out and call them liars.Obviously a company that he refers to as Trashco could in no way keep zero, and anyone with one isn't as nearly as scope savy as THE GURU of scopes.I don't think I was really flying the tasco flag or anything. As a matter of fact I believe I said they won't be showing up in any benchrest competition. Why do you feel obligated that you have to give a guy a scope "in supers name"?Can't he stand for himself?Even at my old age I still can.I have no idea how he got so far off track.I believe the next reply was Tarrys and I think he understood what I was trying to say.Face it,the guy insulted anyone that owns a tasco or TRASHCO,in his words, and some how my age and eyesight got thrown in too.Donavan I dont see how I'm the one that is still keeping the pot stirring?DONOVAN we don't have no 'he said she said'stuff going on, everything is written down.Tell me if you can honestly say,I'm the one that started this mess on my first posting. It's seems to me your buddy was the one coming out blazing with words like trashco, old @ss and I needed to get my eyes checked. Please exsplain to me how I started it ,and why everyone else that said they had pretty good luck with them,he didn't run his mouth with them?Simple question to answer I would think.

never had a problem with mine on my .223, nor my buddy on his .22-250. so are you telling me you want to trade a $700 scope for a $300 scope?
