Hey guys,
I've been doing some thinking (scary, aint it?).
There seems to be several folks on here from tennessee and surrounding states that are trying to learn this sport or who just love to get out and hunt ol' wiley coyote, so I have an idea.
I know a few folks around here who are on big deer hunting clubs that they lease from Bowater. These leases are from 500 acres or so on up to a few thousand acres. I was thinking about asking them if I could bring a few hunters on their leases to thin out the coyote population. I would need to know how many would be interested in this kind of hunt?
Keep in mind that to do this that I would have to get the o.k. from every member of the lease. That won't be easy, but I will try. Some of these leases just have two or three guys leasing them, while others have 25 to 30 on them. The ones with high numbers will probably be almost impossible to get everyone to agree to it, but I'll try anyway.
These men will be going on my honor so all that I ask is that we follow any rules that they ask of us and to leave the place better than we found it. I WILL NOT pay any of them to hunt their leases and some may want that.
These hunts will be a one time thing unless they give permission to hunt another time. I just want to make that clear so nobody gets the misconception that they can hunt there anytime.
I thought this could be a good way for some of us to meet each other and to have some fun shooting some coyotes (can't guarantee the coyotes though
). A few people have expressed their desire to hunt with coyotehunter1 and me, but the places we hunt are barely big enough for two hunters, much less more than that and the ones that are fairly big the landowners don't want more than two of us on their property hunting. Safety can become a big concern in larger groups on small areas.
Well this is my idea. Any takers? I haven't even discussed this with coyotehunter1 yet, so I don't know if he would be interested or not. Who knows we might learn a thing or two from each other and have a great time. I hope that some of the more experienced coyote hunters will be interested as well as the new guys.
I know of one 1500 acre area that I'm pretty sure I can get on for a one time hunt that borders a river and has state owned property on the other side. Seems like a good place to hunt coyotes, but it is fairly remote. I'll have to find out for sure if we can hunt it.
The proverbial ball is now in your court.
