I may be in situation normal, just confused. But this isn't a "deal" is it? It's a memorandum of understanding. Giving 60 days to negotiate an actual agreement/deal. Which, given how things have gone so far, seems like a helluva long way away from a deal. Whether good, or bad for us. I haven't seen confirmed details of the memorandum. Just unsubstantiated rumors and idiotic memes. Myself, I have no idea what is actually on the table. The rumors make it sound like a resounding strategic loss for us though. But I doubt a single detail has been ironed out and agreed to yet. And I won't be surprised if 60-something days from now it's "war on" again.

Sometimes a loss isn't a bad thing in the end, thats my spin

The good? perhaps our economies can begin the path toward normalization between our nations. If we can just start doing business with them I think that is the true way to influence them.
If 6 months ago this MOU was seen it would be an unimaginable outcome to the conflict. It would have been as if they demonstrated a nuke actually going off. Perhaps the worst outcome is the lack of what we are capable of doing as a military that has been laid bare to the entire world. Iran doesn't need a nuke. they can threaten to close the strait of hormuz OR launch a few drones or even a few missiles from inside some obscure place in Iran and the Lloyds of london will refuse to insure any ships passage through the strait. We have younger more hard line leaders in place, the new grand leader we have killed his dad and his family. His attitude toward us can't be good!
Iran is going to get sanctions removed! that wasn't on the table 6 months ago,
Iran has effective control of the Strait
Iran will be getting money released right away, This will likely be in the form of a forgiveable loan from say qatar, that we end up paying qatar back for. for example, that way they can say its not coming from us
Iran may get as much as $300 billion of their assets unfrozen and given to them
Iran can export its oil.
Iran got us to compel israel in writing to stop attacking lebanon and to give back the territory they took
Iran got us in writing to say that we will cease to try to meddle in their governance and respect them as a soverign.
Iran got us to expand a reported half of our entire stock of a certain type of missile
What am I forgetting, I am sure there is more
US got and only got a promise not to get a nuke, Which obama had with their first agreement. which BTW the neocons lied to us about that. the JCPOA as its called did have some benefits to the world because it allowed inspections and other things to check on their program
Thats the long way of saying we LOST the conflict. The american people suffered financially with much higher costs to fill up and canceled flights and vacations. In the end I think the supply chains, and supply shocks to the average american were about to get so severe Trump had no choice but to fold. There was about to be physical shortages of oil, shit was about to hit the fan if this dragged on. So the plug had to get pulled. Iran got an unthinkable outcome, I hate being right but I was against the war from the beginning. the outcome is worse on paper than I had imagined. the future may get better if we ever learn to get along with Iran.
