Tenzing Predator Pack

I've had one for a while now and use it a lot. It is very well thought out and built. I've also got the Cabelas predator vest. Is the Tenzing worth twice as much? Probably not but it is very nice. There are a few things I would change about it and for the money, it should be pretty much spot on I would think.

Thanks Sledge! I sent you a pm too, but then figured others may be interested as well. Do you think this pack is small enough to be a carry on if taking a flight?

The frame, which is the largest part, measures 24"x15". I'm sure that'll fit in the overhead. The pack itself will expand to be pretty large. I carry my fusion with remote, thermal scanner, extra batteries and extra gloves, sock hat etc. in it with no problems. Even with all that, you could still stow it. It also has a sling setup to carry a rifle on your back if you're so inclined. The waist band has2 pockets on it also. The left one I carry 5 spare shotgun shells and an extra mag for my AR. I carry a pair of hand pruners in the right.
Hope this helps.

Steve.

I've used mine for a little while now. The frame/nylon stretching makes quite a bit of noise when you shift weight sitting. I like the pack a lot. Put some tape on the rubber stoppers to hold them on. It's kinda difficult to open snap while wearing pack to let down cushion. You really need to take pack off unless there's a better system to pull caller out. Well made and I might make a few mods. I can fit a larger size camelback bladder inside.

My hurdle is with carrying AR. I use a vtac 2 point. The gripe I have is the top of the frame where legs are attached a kinda in the way for throwing sling over. It pulls more on my neck than my shoulder. I'm looking at new slings...

Only if you're moving around. Ha!

Mine does make some noise that I had originally hoped would go away but hasn't. It's actually worse when it's cold. I'm looking into options to fix it but have been to busy. It seems like they just need stretched out, they're really tight around the frame.

Ya well imagine needing to sit up and shoot. It's crazy loud. The pack polices you not move a lick. It's in a box going back to tenzing tomorrow. The stitching around the frame is going to pull apart. Hopefully they have fixed some things or it's going on eBay with tags still on it(if they replace it).

I don't have to imagine it. I've been using it all year this way and can honestly say, while annoying, it hasn't caused me to spook a coyote yet. I can see where it might if one was sneaking in behind me though. I've been successful in 6 of my last 8 sets including 2 inside of 30 yards. I imagine the coyotes would be more concerned with the noise from my safety getting flipped off. I get what you're saying though, they definitely need to look into different materials or something. A guy should expect more especially at this price point. Hopefully they'll take care of you.

Steve.

Love mine. The only noise mine makes is the occasional rifle barrel bump against the top hinge. I also have the Cabelas predator vest with the kickstand and the Tenzing is far supperior in every way. Favorite feature is the ability to have a water bladder setup in it.

Sledge and Billy - does yours sound just like the video Humpness posted? That's really loud and a big concern for a pack at this price point. I'm wondering if Humpness just got a bad one? If not, that's pretty poor design. I was about to order one this week.

I do not own any predator packs but if mine sounded like that after spending $300+ I would be mighty Pd off.

I didn't watch the video that was posted because I'm on my phone. I can tell you that mine does make a " scratchy" type sound when I'm leaning back against it and move around. Am I concerned about spooking a coyote with it? Absolutely not. It's not that loud. I've called/ killed too many coyotes at some very close range to be concerned with it. I can tell you that if I was the least bit concerned about any of the equipment that i use, it'll get tossed in the corner regardless of the cost.

Christ & I thought the fur taker vest was overpriced at $100 & the cabelas vest for $150....

This SOB better drag & skin your coyotes for you, maybe even have a built in back massager for $300.

If yours just squeaks a little fine but mine is way too loud. If you think I'm smoking crack go watch it. Until then your stats don't mean [beeep] to me. I've used it to kill coyotes but I couldn't shift weight or even sit up in fear of noise to take a shot. It's at tenzing right now to see what's going on. I'm sure they will sort it out they are a great company. I'll post up another video with the new one to compare.

Regardless of your little rant, I hope they take care of you. Once never dealt with this company personally but their stuff comes highly recommended. Nothing worse than a piece of equipment that won't perform, especially at this price.
As far as me posting stats..I can assure you that your approval means Jack [beeep] to me as well. I didn't post it to be bragging, it was to point out to other people who may follow this thread that not all of these packs perform the same. I may have gotten the best one and you the worst. Who knows. Nothing I've posted had been aimed directly at you. Until now anyway. Lighten up.

Have a good day,
Steve.

Mine does not sound like that at all. After listening to the video I went and tried to get mine to sound like that and couldn't. The only problem I have had with mine is the rubber boot on one of the kick stands came off somewhere in a snow bank.

That was my thoughts exactly.
