Tenzing Predator Pack

I guess I missed out on the built in squeaker part. I doubt you guys would approve of much of the other gear that I choose to use either. To each their own I suppose.

So I picked one up at a local store here with a good return policy. First off, I spent a lot of time looking it over closely and I think it's really well made. I think it's a really quality product. But at the same time, I'm not sure yet if it's for me.

In comparison to Humpness and his loud pack, this one is not as bad. It does make some noise at the bottom of the frame, but you have to almost try to make it do so. It is tight though. I would think it would loosen up some. Maybe in cold weather it may tighten and get worse.

My concern is more fit for me personally. It's amazingly comfortable, but awkward. I could fall asleep in this thing easy. But the legs are too short to me. FYI - I'm 6-1 and 215lbs. They need to be 2-4 inches longer so I could be a bit more upright. I am testing this though on a flat floor. I suppose a slight incline would help quite a bit. Also, when sitting with the shoulder straps on, it is really restrictive. I can't really turn at all. Just bringing my rifle to my should is very difficult to get my cheek down on the stock. I'm left handed and shoot off my left shoulder. If something comes to my left, I can forget about it. There's no way I can swing

However, if I slip out of the harness and then just sit down in it like a chair, it's great! Then I can move easily and it's really stable. Do you guys who use it slip out of the harness once your sitting?

PS: One last thing, we know they are marketing this to predator hunters, but I think it's a good all around pack for the right person. Even glassing for big game on a hillside would be so comfortable.

kmeyer I have done both I'm 6'3 210 and would agree and extra 4 to 6 inches would be ideal on the legs for me as well. I prefer to slip it off just do I can move easier if I have to adjust shooting angles.

I slip the straps off when seated also for all of the reasons mentioned. I run the legs probably 2" past where they say 'stop' just for added length. I contacted Tenzing about offering either some extensions or longer legs. Their response was..."No".
I have found that once seated, I can pull the legs closer to me for a more upright position which helps.

Ok update. The replacement I got from Tenzing was total [beeep]. I got desperate and tried all sorts of stuff. Bottom line is the pack couldn't be hunted out of. Until, I bought hockey tape(camo!) from Amazon and wrapped the frame. Not even a squeek now. Just be careful that you know how to slide the pack back over it when your done(I ripped zipper off). This is now such an awesome pack I'm set. Before I couldn't appreciate anything about it but now it's dialed.

Glad to hear ya got it working for ya. I took mine apart at one point and took a scuff pad to the frame to rough it up. It helped a bit. I could see where the tape would work. I may try some shrink tubing and see how that works out.
