I went to FT. Stockton last week and met a couple of friends, Clint Martin and Scot Ruff, for a hunt. We were hunting on the Huckaby Ranch.

There was a lot of big game animals and some really nice ones at that.
I had arrived late that night and Clint and Scott were allready settled in by the time I got there. The next day Clint was the first to draw blood when he ran across a few Javalinas.
We literally scoured the area for coyotes, and found no sign of them. We were seeing a lot of sign for fox and began to target them. On this setup, Clint was watching down a draw and using a shotgun and his FX-5 he took a Fox at a paced off 68 steps with a load of Dead Coyote from his Benelli.
On the next stand, Scott was calling with his WT and they were both watching down opposite ends of a draw while I watched the road. A fox came by headed to the caller and I lipsqueaked to stop it at 11 paces from me. A 53 grain SMK from the Swift ended his progress right there.
We had day light left for only one more stand when Scott took this Fox coming again to his WT at about 8 steps with his Benelli.
We ran across a Govt Trapper on the first day and he was setting out for Bobcats. He told us taht he couldn't keep anything but we were free to clean out his traps if we chose to. The next morning we went back in that area and removed this from his trap.
This was the only Bobcat we found on the ranch. It was caught in a snare. Clint and I had ridden out the night before to make calls back to home. On the way back into the ranch, just before we got to the Ranch House, Clint saw a cat jumping a fence. We drove about 100 yards past there and allthough we were not set up for night calling, I had a Maglight in the truck. I had one enclosed reed call in the truck, all the others were back at camp. We got in the back and began our screaming. Nothing showed so we went to camp. The next day as we were driving around, we went past the place the cat had jumped the fence and saw this hung up in the fence. Our guess is he was caught in the snare and was trying to get out when we went by the night before.
We wpent the rest of the last day calling in high winds to no avail. We dropped by the ranch Headquarters and took some pictures of their Bobcat, Lilith. Thgis Bobcat was not happy we were in the house and let us know with some hissing and growling.
On our next stand, Scott spotted some Javalinas traversing the hill side about 175-200 yards out. He motioned for me to come over and I shot one with my Mini 14 using Blackhills 60 grain V-Max.
And of course no trip with the Cajn would be complete with out a good dinner. The first night, I grilled some Pork Chops and Deer steak. The second night we had Rib Eyes.
The shooting was kinda slow, but a good time was had by all.
