.17 rem 20 gr V-max vs jackrabbit. Not the most carnage but I was happy. Note the blood spatter on the other side of the rifle. Thats how far he flew!
elks,
Sorry you don't like the carnage. I agree, I don't call it varmint hunting, heck, I shot this jack from my back door (see the thread I posted, I'm very pround). /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif
But I live in cow country and rabbits and ground squirrels are a complete pest. They eat the hay as fast as we throw it out for the cows. They carry ticks, fleas and all kinds of sickness. They dig holes that the cows step in and can break a leg, the loss of a significant investment. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angry-smiley-055.gif
Now we can argue that we created this problem by bringing domesticated livestock to the high desert, but lets leave that to PETA. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
When I shoot a rabbit or squirrel I know I am ridding the county of one more pest. If I use a .22, they may kick and squirm. If I use a centerfire, they usually explode. Hell, my girlfriend will swerve to hit a jack on the road in her truck. If I get a little show each time I drop the hammer so much the better. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif
If you are offended, sorry. Stop visiting the "Varmint Hunting" section or use the word "carnage" as a clue. No one is forcing you to look. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif
