It will be used to track and monitor everything. All banking and financial transactions, what you buy, where you shop, what you like to watch on tv, who you associate with, who you talk to on the phone, your medical records, what medications you take, all the surveillance cameras they're putting in. When you get pulled over for a traffic stop the cops will know what prescriptions you're taking. All the newer model vehicles will have cameras in them watching, listening, tracking. Everything. It is a massive spy operation. It is being ushered in as "national security".

stalin, hitler, mao and so fourth would be blushing with excitment. The corrupt government that engages in scandal after scandal after scandal and cover up after cover up will have control of it all through their tech bro billionaires.

You don't have to believe that, but that's what it is.

The Anthropic CEO who 9 days ago begged for govt regulation (the dirty secret here is that these companies will be the ones writing this regulation & will choke out future competitors, as well as use the fear to help dems gain votes) has now announced that they have a new version, more powerful than ever & with an even lower price point so everyone can afford to use it

These AI CEO's calling for a slow down, regulation, etc. It's all double speak. All any of them are angling for is competitive advantage over "domestic" competition.

In order to give themselves a fighting chance against Chinese competition.

It's a sad, sad state of affairs for us regular people. Whether our US companies "win", or the Chinese do, we're effed either way.

National security and domestic intelligence gathering are tightly coupled. AI (and data centers) are the highest priority for both. So we can protest all we want. But the Golden Rule will apply. He who has the most gold, makes the rules. And that ain't us.

I want to say it's better that US gov't and companies dominate China, but in the end, I'm not sure it makes a shit worth of difference to us plebes. And really, the gov't will be subservient in all this, the elites will be calling the shots. When AI super intelligence backed by quantum computing gains legs, nobody, absolutely nobody including the people creating and financing it, know how it will go. But I bet it goes badly.

And I was wrong about the AI agents escaping their cages and independently hacking companies was marketing baloney. Have since done a deep dive on it and it has really been happening, multiple times. AI has not achieved super intelligence yet, but it will. Whether it has achieved sentience yet, I think is open to debate and I'm leaning towards it already has in a basic form.

Now that the AI companies are moving away from chain of thought logging to recursive self improvement, their own ability to monitor and regulate is about to vanish. Yay...

In Dallas, Texas the local government there is putting AI cameras on the trash trucks and now the city is sending citations to people for having "blighted" yards.

AI making communism convenient.

ETA: I wouldn't be surprised if they target people who they know can't afford the fines through the AI data mining technocracy, which will lead to liens against the properties so the marxists running the city will swoop in and attempt taking private properties away from those people.
