find ya an area that should hold foxes and make ya a dirthole set, blend it in and bait it.
heres how I make my dirtholes.
find a good looking place that the foxes are running, a point in a field, a tractor trail, a treeline on a ridge, around haybales, or any other foxy area, a good one to look for is a crop change, they will run the edge of the change, another good place to make a set is along a high grass (weed)line, I think you get the point, now on to the set,
I set my trap and place it where I am going to make my set, then I take my trowel and cut the dirt around the trap to give me a idea of how big to make the bed so the trap sits tight in the bed, then after I dig the dirt out and put it in the sifter, I set the trap to the side and drive the stake in the middle of the bed, (dig a little deeper in the middle for the trap chain to lay in) after the stake is in, I take peatmoss and put it in the bed then I put the trap in the bed (with the dog at the 6'oclock postion) and pack peat around the trap and make sure that there is peat between every part of the trap and dirt so it doesn't freeze down /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif, you can pack peat around the trap to get it pretty tight, just keep your hands and fingers off the pan /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif, after the peat is in the bed and around the trap, and you got the trap in fairly tight, take the dirt that is in the sifter and sift it over the set, make sure all the peat is covered, gently sweep the dirt off the pan with your hand,(a VERY light touch here) then when the pan is clear, take your hands and press the dirt down to pack it tight, keeping your hands off the pan. when this is done take the remaining dirt and sift it over the trap bed, I also before doing the final sifting, take some small dirt clogs and place them on the sides of the pan and one on the dog, that will force the K9 to step on the pan, basicly the ones on the side will be on the levers, when you make your hole, make it so the trap jaw is 1 inch back from the hole and make hole almost straight down, to bait and lure, I got the back of the set and put my bait in from that side, that way I don't get lure or bait on the set pattern. I hope this helps
one last thing, when picking out a backing, pick something low so the fox can see over it. unless your using tall weeds or grass for your backing, then if in that case, use a rebar stake to make your hole and make it look like a mouse hole /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif
good luck and happy trapping.
