Tree stand help

Hey guys. I am looking at buying my first tree stand and have done a little bit of research. On Cabelas' website there are good reviews for the "Cabela's Mega Bucks Series Viper Ultra Treestand" and also the "Loggy Bayou Mega Transformers Pro Staff Climbing Treestand"

Any suggestions or comments? It would help me out a lot. I know a lot of you know what to and not to look for. Thanks.

I love my API Grand Slam Supreme. I like the way it grabs trees and holds firm. Mine is quiet and now that I've hunted with it for a while is super fast up and down the tree. My only complaint is that the padded seat and rails make me go to sleep too often /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif. As a side note, I have taken mine up trees covered in ice as high as 30' without any trouble gripping /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif.

I love my Summitt and I back it quite a bit. I have killed several deer in it after packing it 3/4 of a mile to get to my spot. I killed one with my bow from it last year.

In looking at the Lone Wolf, I never saw the attraction or the reason for the high (almost double) price. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

Big Jim,

If you are looking for a top quality, easy to use , quiet stand. Pretty tough to beat the Lone Wolf climber!

Well worth the extra $

Big Jim,

Another vote for the Lone Wolf Climber here! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif Got a few years on mine and I would not trade it for anything on the market.

Ya get what you pay for.... Thats all. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

If you are looing for a great deer stand SUMMIT is the answer! I am a bow hunter and I have a summit thats made for the bowhunter with no shooting rail. My stand weighs about 14lbs it is so easy to pack on your back and is super quiet when climbing! Summit is the only way to go!!!!1

Another vote for LONE WOLF!!! Rock soild and no noise, squeaks, creaks- nothing! Good luck with your choice. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I ended up getting the Loggy Bayou one...I have tested a summit before but only went about 10ft up because I didn't have a harness.

Anyone else here feel a little strange the first time you have used one about 20 or so feet up? I guess I will get used to it once I feel it is safe enough.

Yeah, that still happens to me the first hunt each season and I've been hunting from trees for 20+ years. After a couple times out, you'll feel as safe as a squirrel. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

When I first started hunting from a tree stand I was scared to death. I come down once with a Baker and had my arms around the tree, lucky I never got hurt bad. After that bought a Summit which was a big improvement but I was still a little scared (never did like heights). I bought a Tree Lounge and it was the first time I really felt comfortable in a tree! I would climb 30' sometimes and felt very safe in Tree Lounge. Great stand in my book.

I too love my Lone Wolf. Extremely quiet, lightweight, packs flat (two inches when it's packed up). It is awesome. I've killed many deer from it. I have no problem packing it a 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile. Easy to adjust and put on a tree in the dark with no light. And durable as heck.

the Lone Wolf is completely worth the extra money. I love how it packs flat, that means that it doesn't catch brush as you're walking through the woods. It's very easy to pack in and out and avoid brush, and unnecessary noise.

It is a cast platform, so there are no rivets, welds, etc. that will squeek in cold weather.

I'm not Lone Wolf pro-staffer. Wish I was. . . because they make a quality product that I would stand behind completely.

3 of my buddies have bought Lone Wolf's and scrapped their other climbers after playing with my Wolf
