I like a heavier bullet for predators. I've use a 52 grain Sierra BTHP for many years with excellent results out of my 22-250 and my 220 Swift but I've tried the V-Max's, mostly 50 grain, with good results. I like IMR 4064 although a number of other powders work well, too.
Back in the mid 60's bullet choices were fewer but I lived close to Sierra Bullets when they were in Santa Fe Springs, CA. It was only natural for me to shoot Sierras since I bought their factory seconds by the lb. I found the 50 grain Blitz bullets were very efficient killers in my 222 but couldn't be used in my newly purchased 22-250. So after finding out that some of the other bullets made a serious mess at the high velocities I tried the 52 grain HPBT's and found them to be highly effective killers.
