VX2 Leupold?

I am going to buy another scope, and a looking at several different ones. I "think" I want a 4X12 and one of ones I'm looking at is the VX2 Leupold. I know the VX3's are good scopes, but I once had a VX1 that was not very good. Just wondering what some of you think about the Leupold?

Thought I'd put it on a lightweight bolt action 223 for a coyote rifle.
 
The newest line of VX-1 are pretty danged nice. But the VX2 is hard to beat at the price point. Right weight, good eye relief and no tunneling. I like the ones I have quite well.
 
The VX2 line of scopes are among my favorites. Currently own about 5 with no issues ever that I can recall other than a little bit tight power adjustment ring.
 
I have 3 VX 2's all 2-7x33 on Marlin Lever guns and never a problem. (30-30, 444, 45-70) This scope stands up to the recoil from the 2 Big Bores with never an issue.

Just curious what the problem was with the VX-1?I have one (2-7) on my CZ 527.Never had an issue with any of the 3 Leupold's on my rifles.
 
I have owned several vx1, vx2, and vx3 series scopes(plus all the previous vx-?? models). All are acceptable for hunting rig in my opinion. There is a noticeable difference in glass quality as you move up to the higher end models-you pay for it as well. You can't go wrong with a gold ring on the end of your scope.

I have a couple of old Simmons and Tasco scopes that had better glass than the VX-1 had. May have been a fluke, but you could plainly see the difference.

I have one that I used for a number of years. It was bounced around in a pickup gun rack, dropped out of a tree, hauled around on a 4-wheeler, and never once lost its zero. I eventually put it on a muzzle loader, sighted it in, and for the past 10 years its always shot where it was supposed to. Same way with an old Simmons 44 mag that I have, its been on at leas half a dozen different rifles, and I'll end up getting rid of the rifles and keeping the scope. It has good glass, and the adjustments are among the best of I've seen on a rifle scope. Although, you usually get what you pay for, sometimes you can luck up on the lower priced stuff.
 
FWIW I have old J made Tasco binos.Really nice glass but to big/bulky for my needs.Now that I have Leup's compact Yosemites I'll be listing the Tasco in the classifieds soon.
 
There's a world of difference between the VX2s and the older VXIIs - let alone the VX1. The new VX2 actually has the same glass as the first-years VX3.
My only complaint about my 6-18X VX2 is the small-for-magnification level field of view. (And why I'd personally pop for a 6-18 for coyote hunting; you can always turn the power down.)
Fwiw: there's a rare-for-Leupold $100 markdown on their VX3 through the end of the year. Right now I'm looking at a SF 30mm 6-20X w/VH reticle - with an additional dealer's 50 bucks off - for $650!

Take a look at the redfield scopes. Leupold owns the company and they are made in the same place. I went into my local gun shop looking to buy a high dollar leupold scope and they guy that owns it convinced me to buy the redfield. He said they are the same scope with a different name and a fraction of the cost.

no matter what the expert at the local gun shop told you a redfield scope is not the same as a leupold vx2.

I've never used a vx2 but there a lot of guys online that say that they are basically the same scope. All the Redfield's I've looked through have been very clear and ive never had a problem with durability.

you might want to actually read the stuff in the 3 links you posted. NOBODY in those 3 links is saying a vx2 is the same as any redfield scope.
