weapons of choice for groundhogs

I think I've shot groundhogs with every weapon in my gun safe at one time or another. Funny thing about that is - the rifle I like to use the most is one of my cheapest. It's an H&R Ultra Varmint in .223 that was actually bought for my wife. Not positive how many we killed with that rifle last year, but it was at least 80.

Like many others have stated I use several rifles for rockchucks. I use a 17 Remington when out checking kills, a 220 swift for mid range shots, a 243 for long range shots and a 7mmSTW for those ultra long range chucks.

Almost forgot my new 6mmBR gets the nod most of the time now unless they are beyond 600 yards.

Mike.

Thought I'd chime in on this one, too...I really like hitting them with my Ruger 77/44 with big flat-nosed cast slugs. Lots of fun and no mistaking hitting them with those either.

Mine is a ruger M77 target in 220 swift with a leupold vx-ii 6-18x40 AO with Hornady 55gr moly ammo

Longest shot is 362 yards with one single shot
