I have had great success with the product Forget the Wind, in Coytotes, Deer, and Elk.
Trappers have been fooling a coyotes nose for many years.
Attractants work as well, like rabbit urine.
Saying that you can't ever fool a coyotes nose is like saying we could never put a man on the moon.
Those long nose doe's noses are the ones that are hard to fool.
You should be asking this question on an archery board and you will see where there are MANY guys that are fooling animal's noses.
A coyote is not some super animal, you just have to confuse their nose enough to where they respond to their ears(dyiing animal sounds) and territorial instincts of another predator being in their territory.
I and my brother have fooled many coyotes noses on a consistant basis. Wonder what we are doing different than the guys that tried it and failed??? The answer would be consistancy, putting on Forget the Wind is like a Religion.
When we hunted Mexico and taking the large numbers of coyotes we hunted two different ways, out of the truck and walking out making stands, usually in three or 4 man hunts. When walking out making stands on the ground, there are a differnt set of rules than making stands out of the back of the truck.
Needless to say, being in an area with a lot of coyotes will allow you to wear a Santa Clause suit and still come up with pretty good success. If you are fortunate to live in an area with high populations of yotes, then you will come to a dramaticly diffent conclusion than if you have to hunt in an area where coyotes are few and far between and extremely smart.
If you are interested in learning about attractants and how trappers cover their scent, then there is a magazine called Fur, Fish, and Game.
Good luck!
