I think it was that beautiful steak that sealed the deal![]()
That ribeye was cooked to perfection! Lump charcoal and a cast iron grill go everywhere except backpacking.

Might have to try some of that Woodford Reserve![]()
I get it, if thatās your thing. There may be reasons? Just as there are reasons we all have drinks. To each their own! Enjoy your choices, popper!Just Diet Coke and some water.
if you end up liking it... you're definatly gonna wanna try the double oak. its 100% worth the extra over the regular woodford reserve.Might have to try some of that Woodford Reserve![]()
Some years back... My and my coworkers boss at the time, gave my coworker and good friend a bottle of Macallan 25 for his 65th birthday. My friends wife didn't let him smoke, or drink, in the house. We always smoked and drank in the garage or backyard. It's exactly the same at my house still - no smoking or drinking in the house.
But for his 65th, my friends wife let us SMOKE and DRINK in the LIVING ROOM! We sat in the twin Lazy Boy recliners and drank half that bottle and smoked two of the box of $25 each Fuente cigars I had given him for his birthday. We were two happy sumbitches!

I guess I'm too dumb to get that serious, or I like my comforts too much. My base is probably closer to 25 pounds. On that particular trip, fully loaded at the trailhead I was carrying 42 pounds, but that include a full bottle of that whiskey (in a Nalgene to not carry the glass) and a big package of oryx steak for the first night's dinner (that's your fault by the way).I'm what some call a "gram counter" for backpacking. I'm super weight conscious. Keep my base weight under 15 pounds. That's for pack, shelter, sleeping, cook stove, water treatment, clothes. Basically counting everything except food and water - and including the clothes I'm wearing. But I carry whiskey on every trip! And cigars. Most of my backpacking trips used to be in the 50 mile range. I'm getting old and weak though. Have been trying to keep them in the 30-40 mile range the last couple of years.
This was a typical 50-something miler from some years back. About 25 miles in, enjoying a whiskey and cigar.
