What did you do today in the world of reloading?

Well today Wallace and Wyatt and I used our new FART de primer. Fast and easy! Wyatt set it up then ran 50 6.5 PRC through it pretty fast.
As I type this I am running dish soap and my new SS pins and water in what was my dry FART to get rid of all the pink dust before I even try to clean brass in it.

I am also thinking about getting some neolube #2 to start using as inside neck lube. Especially with new brass or with wet tumbled brass. I have seen some pretty crazy neck lube tests showing shrinking group size just from lubing.

Still working up a load for my 22/243.
Trying a new powder with a new bullet and old bullet.
Hoping to find some combination this rifle is going to like.

Switched over the Dillon 550 from 45 ACP to 9mm this afternoon.

Loaded about 400 rounds, but still have three times the empties to load yet.

Found the load my 22/243 likes so I loaded 100 rounds today.

I worked up a new load for the .260 rem. Switching to the 120 eld m for a little more speed as opposed to the 140s. Shot 3 different loads yesterday and one group measured out to .427 at 100 yards. Load was 42.5 gr h4350 in lapua brass. Loaded up with the new set of Redding competition dies.

Loaded up a few 35 whelen upper end loads for ladder testing with 180 grain hot cores. I used 2230-c, imr4895, and Varget. Haven’t got better then 1.5 MOA with my 7600 carbine so hopefully one of these loads will be under MOA.

Had a snaffoo the other night in the 6x6.8 AR, so I've been pulling bullets, sizing the necks two thou smaller, and bumping the shoulders another couple thou.

What a pain in the arse.........

Finally got done with the last 50 of these........whew....

Then deprimed, annealed, sized, tumbled, and primed another 60 rounds.

All caught up with this gun for now.

Loaded 98 243 shells, 50 for the night gun and 48 for the day. I should be good thru next season now lol.

Got some blems in from Midway, 125 xtp for the 357 ($16 bucks per hundred), and 160 gr ftx M.E.
I'm experimenting with those in 30-30. If you trim the case to 1.9" and seat these M.E. bullets to the cannelure they will cycle in the Winchester and Marlin. Much better bc than the 30-30 ftx, I'll see how they shoot tomorrow hopefully. They also come out to a perfect seating depth for the 30 RAR so I might try them in that round as well.

Ordered a Forster bench priming tool. Arthritis has stolen the joy from using hand priming tools.
I am completely out of ammo for my long-range 7mm Rem Mag and my 300 PRC. The ADG brass is ready to go for the 7, Lapua for the 300. Just putting off priming them due to the pain that it causes.

When I get the brass primed I will load some 162 ELD-X over H1000 in the 7mm Rem Mag, and 200 grain Federal Terminal Ascent over VV N570 in the 300 PRC. The 300 is rocking a new NX8 and I can't wait to dial it in!

I always prime on my presses. The RCBS does the better job of the ones I have. I know it's considered safe, but using a hand primer just scared the BeJesus out of me for some reason.
Your press puts way more force on the primer than my hand press does.

I learned the value of a hand priming tool about 10 years ago. Had some fail to fires along with some that would fire in the 2nd strike in my 35 Remington and 44 mag rifle loads. I wasn't getting a consistent seating depth (some were sitting above flush With the primer pockets) using the goofy built in primer set up on my rock chucker press. I also failed to clean out the hole in the shell seater where it fed the primers. I had dirty lube inside it from FL sizing brass contaminating my primers. Lesson learned. Thank god it was on ladder test ammo and not hunting ammo. Lesson learned. If I do over a couple hundred primers in one sitting my hands will start to cramp up so a bench mounted priming tool would nice.

Just to be clear ....... I have NO problem with the bench mounted units. But the older RCBS and other hand primers where there are dozens or more primers within 4-5 inches of my hand just give me pause. Primers are very dangerous in the best circumstances and I'm just not comfortable with that. And yes, I know that they have been used for many, many years with very little problems. But we all have to draw the line at various places when it comes to our personal safety and comfort.

And FWIW, after years of reloading centerfire and shot shells I haven't ever had a primer failure from a bad installation. But I do prep and clean all of my primer pockets before each loading, as well as keeping the primer seat on the press clean and clear of any debris.

Catching up and building up my .222R supply, sized and checked shoulder bump with Hornady gauges, x 90
Cases, will do loading tomorrow, with 50gn. Hornady SP over AR2207, ( 4198 over there ).
I use the 222R and 22 K Hornet for fox calling.
All the Best to all.
Jay
