What do you expect from your Coyote Hunting partner??

Dropadoglv well not sure what terrain you hunt but i hunt prairie grass hills. Usually going prone so i dont stick out like a sore thumb. Tallest things around are fence posts. So when you show up wearing blue jeans and woodland camo when there is only 3 inchs of snow on the ground doesnt match very well. And if the partner is new they move at the wrong times. Wearing something that will blend in is at least a little forgiving when you have 3 dogs sneaking in.

STS,
We did hunt a lot together, almost every other weekend during the colder months.

I was his "Pal" In the majority of his posts, i guess he was to embarrassed to tell people?

Anyhow, the reason I started this post was in hopes that new hunters see what most people expect from their current or established hunting partner, I would hope that any hunter whether rookie or experienced wouldn't continue to follow their current "BAD" traits into their next relationship with a possible new hunting partner. You can only "use" or "mooch" off of someone until the final straw. And that straw broke!

I have no ill feelings towards anybody, I should have saw the light long ago, the numerous issues were brought up many, many times, what happened should not have come as a surprise to anybody!

You get out of relationship, what you put into it!

I wish him the best!

I don't have any real answer or input. I guess because I don't actually "expect" anything from a hunting partner? I mean, I've hunted with a couple guys that I'd rather not hunt with again, but, I don't go in with any real expectations of anything.

Had to quote this though - it's really the only reason I'm posting in this thread. It just made me chuckle because as soon as I read it, I thought to myself "Consider yourself lucky! You could be stuck with me or my regular partner, and we are slowly getting worse!".

.

Kinda funny. But totally true. At the rate we're going, we'll be pretty lousy coyote hunters again someday if we can keep going long enough.

1) Firearms Safety
2) Prefer accomplished marksmen
3) Respecting the quarry (enjoy the hunt more than the kill).
4) Sense of humor
5) Did I mention Firearms Safety?

Have hunted with same partner since we were in high school and we're both older than dirt. We have more fun ragging the other about a miss than we do putting 'em down. Our shooting ability is about equal as is the sharpness of our tongue, you might say.

This thread reminds me of Seinfeld.

"The tradition of Festivus begins with the airing of grievances. I got a lot of problems with you people! And now you're gonna hear about it!"

In all honesty just be safe, treat everyone fairly and enjoy the company.

Merry Christmas all.

man o man, i can relate to this!

not all that long ago i thought, should say knew, i had coyote calling down pat and could kill the coyotes when i did call them. a few recent stands has me convinced i might be on a downhill slide.

This thread is so relevant to what I have been thinking these past couple of years and what me and my other partner say about my OTHER partner (and probably what they say about me, LOL!)

However, we certainly do not hunt each others spots without the guy that has permission to be hunting them, even if we also have permission. There are coyote hunting ethics - and we've all probably been burned by a spot stealer or a guys that sets his ice house where he has seen your truck for the past few nights (so on and so forth).....oh man, how perfect is this Thread though!!!???!!!?? I like it!!!

Did he get banned? Haven't seen him post in awhile.

Supposedly he was HACKED on a few different sites a couple weeks back, the hacker(s) posted bad product reviews for an item on a couple different sites.

I am not really sure who "Hacks" somebodies email/accounts to post bad reviews. Hacking you to steal money out of your bank account, yes!

On the flip side...

As a newbie who is looking for a partner to learn the ropes from, this thread had a lot of good info. Thanks!

Yes Fett it does have a lot of good and BAD (What not to do) information to make a successful partnership SINK or swim!

Welcome to Predator Masters, you will enjoy being here!

You guys collectively described my partner. All the bad, none of the good. Knows everything, wears work clothes covered in diesel fuel and hydraulic oil. Barely a 100 yard shooter in the daylight, take a 250 yard shot in the dark. It's a lot easier to educate a coyote than this guy. The last straw, I went to put the caller out in a cleared corn field, a couple hundred feet away. On my way back, I look over, he's on the tree line, where we were going to make our stand, taking a leak. I'm not sure what you'd call the opposite of hunting instincts, but that's what he has.

WOW!!!

Was he peeing upwind or downwind of your call and is he still your hunting "Partner"?

sounds like you buddy has some things you dont like about him. but peeing where you plan on sitting for you stand should not be one of them.

if you have picked the correct place you should be calling from it really should not matter even if he took a dump there. the wind or breeze should not be taking any smell towards where you are calling to. and if it is, you are set up wrong anyway. just my opinion.

I always pee at the vehicle (when I need to pee), unless of course I cannot hold it any longer:)

STS is correct, the pee scent should have been at your back going the opposite way of where you are expecting a Coyote to come from, always call into the wind or at minimum a Crosswind with the caller upwind of your location at all times.

Yes Dave, but you could forget half of what you know, make twice as much noise, miss half of the coyotes, and still be twice as good as my friend. Your digression will just bring you down to a mortal level...lol

I am not too proud to admit that yes, from time to time it is a bit liquid.........

As I get older it seems to be more often than not. lol
