What in your opinion is the best animal to hunt?

Pheasants? Still remember the look on you face that time you stepped on that rooster when you were little. Eyes big as saucers. Figured your still skeered of em.

For me waterfowl and coyotes are to close to tell witch one I like more.

Florida Black Bear, back when you could. Kinda ruined me honestly, I have never experienced the rush hunting anything else, that I did hunting bear in my early years.

Bad Guys, Like Hemingway said "There is no hunting like the hunting of man, and those who have hunted armed men long enough and liked it, never care for anything else thereafter." Ernest Hemingway

Agreed. I grew up coon hunting with hounds though I think I miss the dogs more than I do the hunts now.

Back in the day a lil strange was a good thing. Now days I'm thinkin I would want my strange tested or you might end up with something strange.

gonna go with hunting deer with my beagles as #1 nothing is more exiting than the sound of a pack of beagles chasin tail and a real close second is whatever will come running in to my distress calls and I guess third would be the ones that sneak in to the call u got to love those hard chargers though

I guess that is legal in Va.

A dog chasin a deer in Pa is not only illegal, but frowned upon by other hunters.

Most likely Fido would not make it home if it chased tails in Penn's Woods.

I consider myself an equal opportunity killer. If it is legal and not extremely scarce, I'll hunt it or trap it. I enjoy the pursuit as much as the take. I also enjoy the prep work in scouting and getting gear together and working on the bows, guns, or traps in getting them tuned and purpose built. I like trying to out think my quarry.

It ain't no diffrent than chasin any other animal with dogs you should come down and check it out it seems like alot of people want to try and call a ballgame from the stands when someone brings up deer hounds and any person that would kill someones pet doesn't even deserve to be able to enjoy the outdoors they need to be in a padded room for their personal saftey my beagles might as well be a part of my family and don't nobody mess with my family

I am 54 and have hunted a little bit of everything. That being said, if I had a good set of Beagles running Rabbits I would be happiest. Prefer shooting them with a 22 pistol rather than a shotgun, makes it more interesting. I usually used a Deer leg to break my Beagles from running Deer. A good Deer leg applied liberally usually stopped the running of Deer.

My hunting experiences started later in life than most and are limited to Florida critters, but stalking up on a group of wild hogs - unseen, unheard, and unsmelled (is that a word?)- in thick cover is an awesome challenge and really gets the heart to racing.

Fighting an 8 or 9 foot gator up to a canal bank and trying not to get bit before you bang stick it is pretty high up there on the fun and excitement.

And I love that I discovered calling, because down here you never know what is going to show up to the call. Never a dull moment.

Nice topic, Lil FB.
