What is/was the most accurate rifle out of the box?

CZ, Kimber.... Don't know about savage everyone I've held I did not like the feel of. But thats just me. I shot my buddies savage 300 rum, neither of us could best 1.25-1.5 in groups. Which is good enough forsure but not exactly a tac-driver.
 
Out of the box, eh?

Savage. I have the 111 in .270win that I handload for. Has a Meuller Eradicator 8.5-25x50mm red dot/target turrets/AO. Practicing is a hoot. Hunting is even moreso because all that practicing pays off big time.
 
While some may be cheaper, for the money and the later options of accessories and gunsithing, its hard to beat the new savages. One could say the same for a remington 700, I have both and its a difference of prefrence, but buy something that you can work with later! Keep in mind that some of the guns mentioned may not have a serviceable future like many may have you belive!

Out of the box my Browning A-Bolt Medallion in 325.WSM is the winner. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif Both of my recently purchaced Rems could not deliver and have gone BYEBYE! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif I have buddy's who swear by Savage but as of yet I have not owned one.

I was out at the range a few months ago, I was shooting my Rem Model 700 Varmint Special in 22-250, a guy was there shooting his Savage 12FV, that's the blued varmint model, his was in 22-250 also, he asked me if I would like to shoot his rifle, sure...I'm interested in that new Accu Trigger, he let me shoot it, the trigger was incredible! At the same time I shot the smallest group I have ever shot at 100 yds, here is that group, 3 shots into .155" with a Savage 12FV in 22-250:

I've owned more rifles than I can now remember. Sako would be the winner IMHO. As far as "budget" rifles go, do not overlook the Wby/Howa Vanguard. They'll shoot as well as any Savage or Tikka on average. They are smoother than any Savage, and also feed better. They don't have all the plastic crap that make Tikka's nothing more than a poor man's Sako.....2MG
 
I have had sako, they by far have the smoothest action around, the wby, is a good shooting gun, not as tight as the howa 1500 with thumb hole stock... but the several saages i have are able to hold a slightly better group, but that was until the accu-trigger now the savages i have with it, will out shoot the others i have hands down, now down think i am talking by huge amounts when you are talking a quarter inch or less its hard to decide and lets face it even a half inch at 100yrds is is a small amount unless you are shooting competition... my yote will be just as dead as yours... but the savages in my experience will perform as well as if not better than most of the higher priced competition.
 
That is a pretty subjective question. Out of box accuracy is really not an issue since most, if not all good quality modern firearms shoot better out of the box than the people shooting them are capible of.

Very impressive shooting and you were shooting another man's rifle. That is the exact reason I had my brother shoot my Savage 10FP .223 after I got her dialed in with a good reload. He shot a .176" 3 shot group followed by a .473" 3 shot group. Uh ... he bought a Savage in .308 with the Accu-trigger. I shot a .193" 3 shot group 4 days later for my best 3 shot group ever.
