What's your Hunting vehicle?

Canislatrans
my name isnt Tim Taylor,BUT i dont think you can have to much horsepower when it comes to 4X4 Trucks,,or hell even in cars, but thank God this isnt my sole vehicle,,it gets about 10-12 MPG with the 350,if i have my way it will get about 8 when im done,ya just dont see to many 67's to 72 trucks anymore,at least not solid ones, mine had some very small holes and dents in it but i did the body work over the last 2 years and its ready to paint,,i have green, red and grey primer on it right now and it looks like a lifesaver wrapper,,but it does get me in to some rough places /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

My 1972 FJ55 Toyota Landcruiser. Milage sucks (400 SBC) but its fun when you get there. I also have a rack for it that is off right now getting seats put on it.

2004 Ford F-150. On the back is a Yamaha Bear Tracker 250 for when I get to the hunting camp. Love my truck. Love my ATV.

02 F250 EXTCAB 4X4 V-8 Gas. Couldn't see spending 10K more for a diesel and spending more on diesel plus with the performance upgrades I've done they only get better when towing.

Well, until a week ago last Friday, mine was a Gray 1991 Ford Ranger EXT, complete with 5-speed manual tranmission, in-line 6 cylinder engine, matching shell, bed liner and diamond tred rail guards. Well, a double-hauler, belly dump gravel truck aparently didn't care for my rig (or me) too much.....

Here is the truck in happier times with Coyotesmak with rifle, after a days hunt, adjacent to an unfortunately empty tailgate.

Here is the same truck after a slight re-configuration by the aforementioned semi tractor and double trailer.

A closer view of the primary point of impact on the passenger side bed wall.

passenger side cab from primary impact.

He blew through the red light, first said he couldn't stop in time, then said his brakes failed... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif. Since he was less than certain, the UHP cited the driver and held the truck for a complete once-over by one oftheir motor carrier units. I have yet to see the final report, but I'm sure it can't be good for the truck driver.

He hit me as I had driven through 4 of the 5 lanes of the intersection on a green light. I had no clue he was coming until just before the impact. He T-boned me and sent my truck spinning away and to the right. Thankfully, I came to rest against a light pole and did not role or hit any other vehicle. The trucks shell, tail gate, and unfortunately my German Shorthaired Pointer, Kaiser were all sent flying on impact. I remained conscious through it all, but was taken to the ER as a precaution by ambulance. Apparently, when 911 received the call, they had "life flight" on stand-by, according to the paramedics that transported me to the hospital. I walked away with some minor soreness, a hair-line fracture to my left arm, a lot of swelling and bruising, and a little light headedness. Kaiser, unfortunately was not so lucky. I could tell at the scene he wasn't going to make it. (He couldn't move, appeared to have broken limbs and bones as well as internal injuries, and had blood coming out of his nose and mouth as he breathed) Animal Control agreed and they put him to sleep for the last time shortly thereafter. I sure miss that dang dog. I'm sure I'll miss him all over again come September. I thank The Lord that I came out of this as well as I did, and that no human members of my family or friends were with me. I guess I still have to get a few things right down here, before I move on into the next life. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Thanks for the kind thoughts, guys. I figure Kaiser's up there in the great beyond, trailing pheasants and grouse without anyone to holler at him for ranging out too far. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

2000 4Runner SE5, rear electric locker, Fabtech/OME Suspension lift, 285/75 Goodyear MTR's, CB, come-along, tow hooks. Waterpurifier, and full campsite inside at all times. Used to say that I could live the rest of my life out of it, but now with the wife it might get a little cramped.

Years ago, I had to drive a car to my hunting spots, too. 'Course, mine wasn't a sports car. Just a beat up old Olds 88. That was the worst winter ever! If the roads weren't completely dry, I had to stay home! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angry-smiley-055.gif

Small trucks are ok, but never a car again! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Now I have a '05 Chevy Durapig, soon I'll be trading it back in for a Dodge 3/4ton Cummins. I pull a trailer for the Rubicon atv. The truck gets me there and the atv takes me out to the locations. T.20

Just replaced my 98 Chevy Ex-Cab with a 03 Chevy 2500HD Reg.Cab. My kids are getting close to driving age and the ex-cab just filled up with stuff. I will put a quality tool box in the bed and plan to get a shell for the times I need it.
6.0 Vortec, automatic, AC, tilt and cruise are the only options on it. Plain white and simple.

Except for the aluminum wheels from a 2006 Dodge Cummins.
The Chevy bowtie centercaps fit just right and everybody that sees it wants to know where I got the wheels. Kinda unique.
