Which BORE SOLVENT is your TOP CHOICE?

Just wanting to know what everyone is doing to keep the barrel on their favorite rifle performing like it should? This is a subject I don't hear to much about and I'm curious what everyone is using! Tell me your procedure and what products/cleaners you like best. What rods & tips are you using and what kind of patches? How often are you cleaning your barrels? What oil are you finishing with? Who knows, maybe we can learn something here!

Wipeout liquid & foam. Swab out let sit depending on fouling re-swab & put away. Cut up old tee shirts/shorts for patches.

I like the wipe out patch out too for the center fires.

been looking to try the bore tech rimfire blend on my .22lr, have not done that yet.

Butches bore shine, wipe out accelerator, then liquid wipe out. The foam wipe out is much too messy and you waste more than you use (or at least I do).

if you r using a rod guide try soaking a nylon brush and running it 10-15X, then your jag and patch, the only blue you will see is from the jackets.

I do that if the barrel is full of copper but usually with my guns i clean them every 20 shots or so and the copper comes out really easy and there really isnt a need for the nylon brushes.

gotcha, thats the diff, i usually don't clean until my groups open up to over .5 MOA.

i used to do that then when my groups started to open up in my 22-250 it took a long time to get everything out. i started out using mpro 7 then i bought this stuff and this stuff worked much better and faster. its worth every penny.

Chamber brush and mop, flush with brake cleaner, Wipe Out foam and let soak, patches, flush out with brake cleaner.

I clean my rifle(s) after each firing, whether one round or 300 as I am never sure how long it will be sitting in the safe.

Cleaning procedure/solvent depends on the particular rifle. I have an old Savage .338 that is my go-to hunting rifle (shoots sub moa groups consistently) that picks up quite a lot of copper (bore looks great but obviously must not be real slick). I usually use a nylon brush soaked in Hopes Bench Rest 5-10 strokes and let sit 30 min. or so then dry patch to remove powder fouling. Then hit it w/wipeout foam and let sit overnight and dry patch it again. If I plan to hunt again within a week or so, I run a patch soaked in Kroil thru the bore and put it away. If rifle won't be used in the near future, I use Shooter's Choice FP10 or CLP.

On rifles w/custom barrels (much smoother bore), the wipeout usually gets 'em clean without any other solvents. Wipeout is a bit slower in removing powder fouling than Hopes but does a great job on copper. The Hopes Benchrest is a bit more aggressive than regular Hopes on copper, but not so strong that you cannot leave it overnight on heavily fouled barrels.

I'm the odd man out. I use Sweets, started using it 5 years ago when I saw everyone using it at high power matches. This stuff eats copper! You won't find any copper fouling in any of my rifles.

I run Sweets through till the patches come out clean. Follow with Hoppes to get the Sweets out, then oil on a patch followed by a dry patch.

i break in all my barrels, after gettin rid of the micro burrs, it don't matter if i clean after 50 or after 350, she cleans up slick and fast.
