Which howler do you use and why?

I am a huge fan of Randy myself and own all his video's and DVD's. The guy pretty much taught me how to hunt coyotes. But the howler I use is the Crit'R'Call song dog Jr. They're louder and a bit easier to use than Randy's howlers IMO. And I can match Randy note for note on every sound he makes with his howlers. Since learning how to howl, And what the different sound meen, and how to make the different sounds, I've doubled my success rate.

Bill Austin howler. Great tone range and volume. Easy to copy if you lose it. Also use a horn howler by Herbs Howlers that was made by his daughter. Don
 
Kerry carver custom. He makes his own tone boards and has a jig to get them all the same; he makes some sweet ones. Had success with my superdemon too! I also was using a Hot Dog and did well, but the customs are easier to blow and more realistic IMO.
 
Sweetwater Howler by Dan Thompson. It's the one Primos knocked off and Randy Anderson put his name on. Easy to use, sounds great, and I can go knock on Dan's door anytime I have a question /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif .
 
I like my Red Desert Howler. I have a little emotional attachment after using it to challenge a male coyote last year. I got to watch him charge in from a hill 500 meters away until I shot him at 100 yards.
 
I think most of the custom calls made by the guys/gals here are great. I prefer the skinnier reeds over the wide. I have one made by badtothebone (Rudy) and his sound board is wood work and sound board is awsome. I can do pretty much any age yote on it.

I also have a Cedar howler from Tebbe. Great call for the price. Sound board also sounds great, no break in it as far as I have found and is probably just as versatile as the other custom one I have. The Cedar call is simply a one design deal.

Honestly, if you hook up with one of these guys to make you a howler, you wont be sorry. For the same price as a store bought plastic caller, you can have a custom howler made EXACTLY how you want it.

I have a carver custum also, and like it alot. Makes some great sound. Befor I had an old lohman howler till I got everything figured out, it worked well.
 
Another thumbs up for the red desert howler. Great versatility with the removable horn. It allows me to simulate older yotes, younger ones as well as pup distress.
 
I use two, the Dan Thompson Red desert howler and the Randy Austin howler. Two different pitches and tones. The Red Desert is pretty raspy and the Austin is very smooth. Both easy to blow and sound great.
 
Comanche, If you want to get a great custom made howler, check out Steve Tormala(rainshadow1) in the Custom Call Makers Forum. All of his calls are very slick looking, and are fantistic sounding(I have 5 of his calls).
