Who here has gotten this from their wife/girlfriend?

I am new to coyote hunting, and looking for a hunting partner. Also need someone who knows the UT area well enough to be successful. I have been trying to meet up with a couple of people from the forum and so on, but have gotten this from the wife. "How do you know that he isn't going to take you out to the desert and kill you. You don't even know the person"?

Just wondering.

Not that so much as "you're meeting guys on the internet???"

"OMG have fun with you're hunting butty!"

She mentioned the serial killer aspect to, but the focus has been on homo vs hetero activity by and large...isn't that right Casey?

Yeah, I have yet to get that.
My wife is very, lets say cautious, when meeting people.
My reply was " Well of that happens, you will get a fat life insurance check".
That is never received well. I usually get the 'Look'.

Same here, my girlfriend hates the fact that there just might be some normal guys out there. She freaked when a neighbor of my cousins invited me out to do some fishing. She thought he was gonna dump me off in the middle of the lake tied to some cinder blocks. I said "Babe! I'd be worried about takin you out to the middle of the lake, where do you even get these ideas?!" Now I lock all my guns up and hide the keys from her...Lol, j/k but really, she does get worried. Kinda makes me feel like a little kid that cant defend himself or cant talk to strangers or something. I still love her though, it means she cares about me. Anyway kmcintosh, would you like to go out to the desert and do some hunting, Im still in prison but when I escape, I know some great places to hunt?

TexasTexas95, Sure. Are the spots secluded? I have several shovels I can bring, you know to dig for coyote. Do you have rope, or should I bring mine?

I would imagine serial killers would prefer the "Un-Armed" variety of victim.

Something tells me that the prospect of going out with a guy armed with an AR-15 isn't very appealing to one that means malice.

I'm not married, but all I hear is "you're going to kill coyotes! What if it's a momma and has babies? Oh, you're going to kill their mother." Stuff like that! I'm like, if it's a coyote; it's getting shot. LOL

Looking to going coyote hunting soon. In the next couple weeks. Got a license. It's needed in CA. Cost me $42 and it expires in June or so. Then I have to get another one. It's been a while since I hunted; so I forgot all that stuff. HECK!!!!!!!!

Yeah, she just doesn't get it. She is okay with cows and chickens being killed, but doesn't get ANYTHING else. "You're going to kill a deer? What if it has babies?" LMAO that's what I have to deal with. I'm like, "WHAT, you don't think cows and chickens have babies?" Then she tells me to shut up and that she doesn't want to hear it. LOL

Then she's worried about something happening to me, that a mountain lion or something is gonna eat me. My dad and I each have a rifle and a handgun when we hunt; but something is going to eat us? Not too likely!

You guys that have girlfriends/wives that like to hunt are LUCKY!!!!!!!!!!

Kmcintosh78, My wife is the same way. She Hates it when i go alone and worries when I go with someone. I have tried to get her to go with me and just sit in the truck and read a book but she wont do that either. I usually go alone. My work schedule doesn't give me Saturday and Sunday off so most guys I know that would go out have different days off than me. I am from Utah also and Have found that Most all of the Guys are great, But really don't want to share any secret spots. Utah is getting pounded hard now. Everyone has jumped on the predator hunting thing. Utah still has Coyotes just not as many as they did 5 years ago when I started. You may have a lot of dry stands.
I understand how you feel. I really don't want to be stuck with someone I don't know or who smokes and drinks while hunting. That would be terrible to be stuck in a truck with a chain smoker

Wait until you have been married as long as I have, then they just want you to get out of the house.

Yeah definitely, I've never felt uneasy about going out with folks from the forums (only done it twice I guess) but it really isn't a high risk activity I don't think. Killers are looking for easy defensless prey, not other killers who know how to shoot. Pays to be carefull though.

Sorry to get off topic but that sounds awesome, I bet the deer herd is improving too. Not that you guys need it up there

Deer herd in AZ is terrible compared to Utah...I'm really a deer hunter at heart!

My wife says, "you want to hunt coyotes, there just a dog." ya I know but they kill a lot of deer and livestock and need to be controlled. Look at that poor woman from Novia Scotia that was killed by coyotes. "Oh great, your going out alone at night, you could be killed" I know, thats what makes it fun.

Don't worry honey, i carry a gun.

My reply has been "I carry about 4 different blades, my rifle and a pistol". Military and Law Enforcement and Mixed Martial Arts.
I think I am ok.
I still get the look though.

mine is used to me going to dangerous places with strange unknown armed men. 23 years as an infantry officer does that

. most of the time she has no idea where I am, what I am doing, or who I am with which suits me fine.

I only saw one post where somebody said they have tried to take their wife hunting with them. I love hunting with my wife, and she is a h*ll of a shooter. Why don't you guys buy a map and take your wife instead of some random person from the internet?

I'd take my wife hunting except for two things, she can't sit still and quiet for more than a minute and a half and the only time she shot a coyote she felt bad about it for days.

What I get is-"You're going hunting? It freezing/raining/too windy/too hot/there's deer hunters out/it's pitch black out there."
Of course, with birthdays and Christmas and anniversaries she's bought me pretty much everything but my rifle...

I do get a little guff, ever so lightly, when I tell her that I am going hunting for a day with someone from the Net. She asks, I tell her, she says is that safe, I say yes, and it is done. And I have done this on multiple occasions and so far, I have come back alive every time!

I too mentioned the not-so-fat check in the event of desert carnage or mutilation or dismemberment but that is never received too well.
I am glad I don't get the hetero v. homo talk as Huntinaz gets!

Did not read all the posts, but ....

Did your wife come with a guarantee that she would not burry you with guilt?

Not saying she is, just saying.

Good luck, maybe if you let me Cerakote a Pink AR for you to give to your wife, just maybe she will go with you?
