Who hunts solo

Almost always. Dragging my old man out this weekend for a night hunt. I have been out of the calling game for a couple years, and for some reason just had my interest peaked again recently (I think it was the gray fox that I lip squeaked in to 40 yards while standing in my yard in pajamas). Season for fox ends in 2 weeks so gonna be hitting it hard with or without company.

I'm like Infidel, like to be alone 99.9% of the time. Got a couple places that would work better with a partner, but most of my friends my age can't keep up. Also, its all on impulse, when and where to go,without someones time constraints.

I'm kind of 50/50, I like grabbing the call and heading out, but those are the close stands with in 5 miles of HQ. For the long ventures out in the ranch I prefer to have my hunting partner with me. Safety factor for one, and who wants to be the only one shoveling if you get stuck?

No more than I have to!
I try and take my son most of the time (14 yrs old), but will call one of a handful of friends to go. I like sharing the experience more than the killing part anymore. Must mean I'm getting older! Lol

Always alone, How could I possibly share places like these with anyone? (except you guys)

Just depends on my guys. If they want to go, then out we go. If they don't, off I go. If you wait for others, you are going to be waiting a lot and hunting little. I can be more successful alone, but it's not near as much fun as with friends.

Interesting thread. I am surprised on how many hunt solo.
I hunt with a partner about 75% of the time.
Many locations it tough to hunt by yourself because you can't watch multiple avenues of approach with one person.

I used to go with or without a partner, but now I never hunt alone. I am old enough that I could be in real trouble out there if I got hurt or got the vehicle stuck. Always have had a number one rule BE SAFE!!!!

I try to hunt with someone as often as possible but will go out solo instead of staying home. I’m at the point now where I’ve killed enough coyotes that I actually enjoy/rather put coyotes in front of other people. Don’t get me wrong... I love shooting them, and will never stop. I just think it’s a bit more satisfying watching someone drop a coyote I’ve called for them.

I never go out with more than 1 person though. 3 total is to many in my book.

95% solo

My shooter quit on me. He likes to work too much. Too bad for him.

I also like to hunt solo cause if I miss or screw up, it's 100% on me.

Only bad thing is not having someone cover my 6.

That is in the back of my head every time I leave the house. However, with the son grown and married, my obligations are not what they used to be. I don't do stupid things but I also don't want to miss out on the adventures that I have waited a lifetime to experience. I am careful but also fully realize that I can end up as Grizzly poop on the side of a trail somewhere. All things considered, I will continue to take calculated risks because I sure don't want my obituary to describe how I died of a heart attack while sitting at my desk! Good Hunting, JCS
